We know that in order for a farmer to have a harvest, he must first plant seed. If there is no seed planted, he cannot expect a harvest. Basic right? Now we know how this works in the natural but sometimes it’s hard to see it work in the spiritual sense. So let’s start looking at the topic of seeds because as we will see, everything in our life that is worth anything begins with seeds.
Genesis 8:22 NIV
22 “As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.”

Seedtime is Part of Life!

This scripture tells that as long as the earth endures, New King James Version, there will definitely be seedtime and harvest. You and I will harvest whatever seed we have planted. Now I know this scripture is used in messages about giving. I’ve used it many times that the monetary seed we sow in tithes and offerings will produce steeds of blessing for us. But there are many others seeds you and I “plant” in our lifetime. We are supposed to be planting good seed and not bad seed.
Galatians 6:7–10 MSG
7 Don’t be misled: No one makes a fool of God. What a person plants, he will harvest. The person who plants selfishness, ignoring the needs of others—ignoring God!—8 harvests a crop of weeds. All he’ll have to show for his life is weeds! But the one who plants in response to God, letting God’s Spirit do the growth work in him, harvests a crop of real life, eternal life. 9 So let’s not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good. At the right time we will harvest a good crop if we don’t give up, or quit. 10 Right now, therefore, every time we get the chance, let us work for the benefit of all, starting with the people closest to us in the community of faith.

Plant Good Seed!

Whatever we plant, we will harvest. Is our seed bad seed? Seed that is a”selfish” seed not caring about the needs of those around us? Or is it good seed led by the Holy Spirit and doing the will of Him who sends us. That’s what we need to keep doing no matter how hard it gets. We keep doing the good because when the time is right, we will reap the harvest. If you’ve ever planted vegetable seeds, or flower seeds, you know that for a period of time, it looks like nothing is growing. But you keep watering and fertilizing and taking good care of the seed and after doing all the work, when the time is right, you get a harvest of lettuce, or spinach, or tomatoes, or flowers. You keep doing the good things with the seeds you’ve planted and you reap the harvest. The exact same thing happens as we plant God’s Good Seed!
Psalm 19:7–14 AMP
7 The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the [whole] person; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. 8 The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure and bright, enlightening the eyes. 9 The [reverent] fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the ordinances of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, even than much fine gold; they are sweeter also than honey and drippings from the honeycomb. 11 Moreover, by them is Your servant warned (reminded, illuminated, and instructed); and in keeping them there is great reward. 12 Who can discern his lapses and errors? Clear me from hidden [and unconscious] faults. 13 Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then shall I be blameless, and I shall be innocent and clear of great transgression. 14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my [firm, impenetrable] Rock and my Redeemer.

What We Meditate On, What We Speak, Are Seeds!
