! Introduction:
Praying for the Lost
I tell the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Spirit, that I have great sorrow and continual grief in my heart.
For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, (Romans 9:1-4)

"Pardon the iniquity of this people, I pray, according to the greatness of Your mercy, just as You have forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now."
(Numbers 14:19 NKJV)
Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, "If you return to the LORD with all your hearts, /then/ put away the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths from among you, and prepare your hearts for the LORD, and serve Him only; and He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines."
So the children of Israel put away the Baals and the Ashtoreths, and served the LORD only.
And Samuel said, "Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray to the LORD for you."
(1 Samuel 7:3-5 NKJV)
"Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you; but I will teach you the good and the right way.
(1 Samuel 12:23 NKJV)
And they stoned Stephen as he was calling on /God/ and saying, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit."
Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, "Lord, do not charge them with this sin."
And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
(Acts 7:59-60 NKJV)
Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved.
(Romans 10:1 NKJV)

1.
The Nature of Evangelistic Prayer – 1Tim.2:1
“Supplications”, “prayers”, “intercessions”, “giving of thanks”
Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, /and/ giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.
For this /is/ good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
For /there is/ one God and one Mediator between God and men, /the/ Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time, for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle----I am speaking the truth in Christ /and/ not lying----a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting; (1 Timothy 2:1-8 NKJV)

2.
The Scope of Evangelistic Prayer

Prayer for “all men”
"Say to them: `/As/ I live,' says the Lord GOD, `I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live.
Turn, turn from your evil ways!
For why should you die, O house of Israel?' (Ezekiel 33:11)
"Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, (Acts 17:30 NKJV)
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, (Titus 2:11)

Be Loyal & Submissive to our Government—Not for the removal of evil rulers.
Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities.
For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.
Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.
For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil.
Do you want to be unafraid of the authority?
Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same.
For he is God's minister to you for good.
But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God's minister, an avenger to /execute/ wrath on him who practices evil.
Therefore /you/ must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience' sake.
(Romans 13:1-5 NKJV)
Honor all /people/.
Love the brotherhood.
Fear God.
Honor the king.
(1 Peter 2:17 NKJV)

3.
The Benefit of Evangelistic Prayer

To Lead a “quiet and peaceable life”
For kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.
(1 Timothy 2:2 NKJV)
Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men.
For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.
(Titus 3:1-3)

This should be our ambition
… that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you,   that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and /that/ you may lack nothing.
(1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 NKJV)

They unsaved are not our enemies, they are captives of the real enemy
And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, and /that/ they may come to their senses /and escape/ the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to /do/ his will.
(2 Timothy 2:24-26 NKJV)

4.
The Reasons For Evangelistic Prayer

Morally Right
For this /is/ good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
(1 Timothy 2:3-7 NKJV)
Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore /you/ on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God. (2 Corinthians 5:20 NKJV)
For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my countrymen according to the flesh, (Romans 9:3 NKJV)
Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved.
(Romans 10:1 NKJV)

We are Commanded to Preach to every one in the World
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,   "teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, /even/ to the end of the age."
Amen.
(Matthew 28:19-20 NKJV)
And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
(Mark 16:15 NKJV)
Then He said to them, "Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day,   "and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
(Luke 24:46-47 NKJV)

Consistent with God’s Desire For “all men to be saved” – 1Tim.2:4
Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity."
(2 Timothy 2:19 NKJV)
The LORD /is/ gracious and full of compassion, Slow to anger and great in mercy.
The LORD /is/ good to all, And His tender mercies /are/ over all His works.
(Psalms 145:8-9 NKJV)
For /there is/ one God and one Mediator between God and men, /the/ Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time, (1 Timothy 2:5-6 NKJV)
For to this /end/ we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is /the/ Savior of all men, especially of those who believe.
(1 Timothy 4:10 NKJV)
"Look to Me, and be saved, All you ends of the earth!
For I /am/ God, and /there is/ no other.
(Isaiah 45:22 NKJV)
"Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat.
Yes, come, buy wine and milk Without money and without price.
(Isaiah 55:1 NKJV)
"Do I have any pleasure at all that the wicked should die?" says the Lord GOD, "/and/ not that he should turn from his ways and live?
(Ezekiel 18:23 NKJV)
"For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies," says the Lord GOD.
"Therefore turn and live!" (Ezekiel 18:32 NKJV)
"Say to them: `/As/ I live,' says the Lord GOD, `I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live.
Turn, turn from your evil ways!
For why should you die, O house of Israel?' (Ezekiel 33:11)
The Lord is not slack concerning /His/ promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
