Mokers

Text: Jude: 17-21

The “mockers” are twofold: V18

1. Laugh or make fun of
1. NIRV V18 “They told you, “In the last days, some people will make fun of the truth. They will follow their own ungodly longings.”
2. Create an imitation of the Church that appeals to human desires rather than the “will of God”
1. 1 Timothy 4:1-2 (KJV) “1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
   2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;”
2. 2 Peter 2:1 (KJV) “1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction”
   
   

The three errors in V19

1. They “separate themselves.”
1. 1 John 2:18-19 (KJV)  “They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.”
2. They are “sensual.”

a.       James 3:13-15 (KJV) “13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.”

1. They” have not the Spirit”
1. Matthew 24:24 “For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”

The defense..

1. Hold on to the Word of God
1. Jude 17 (KJV) “But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;”
2. Build yourself up (Holy Faith) – V20
1. BUILD YOURSELF – Personal Responsibility
2. Build on your HOLY FAITH

                                                              i.       devoted entirely to the deity

                                                            ii.      Faith in Christ….NOT in things or works.

1. Pray in the Holy Ghost

a.      Must be filled

1. Jude 21 (KJV) “Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.”
