Good morning church. I want to welcome you our church celebration of family and friends. I want to acknowledge everyone who came out and braved the rain. I want to extend a welcome to all of our visitors , our friends and our family. today os a day when we worship and welcome . We worship our God, and our savior . And we welcome all of those who come to worship with us. For it is good and pleasant for brethren to dwell together in unity.
I want to acknowledge the spirit filled and wonderful revival that we had Wednesday and Thursday. Rev Dr. Ricky Banks brought inspired word, and the golden Harmoneers and the Gospel Impressions ushered in the spirit with their anointed singing.
But we come today to finish off a three part series of sermons dealing with deception
sermons.
it is starts from one night at Bible Study, which is held each night at 7:00 here in the sanctuary right after intercessory prayer at 6:30 p.m.
We discussing sin and some of the problems of the world, and Deacon Wilder said it seems like the Devil has better advertising. He is right because if you pay attention to the things of the world, whether it fashion, media, social media, television, movies or the music industry it seems that the obscene, the vulgar and the immoral is promoted , while the moral upright or correct is degraded.
I know I am showing my age but it seems everything has been turned around. If we are not careful, if we do not keep careful watch, then we the faithful will be lost.
one of the problem is that the devil does not look like the devil. Evil does not necessarily look like evil, because of the new advertisement, the package is deceptive. Many times you do not know that you are captured until it is too late. I remember an old twilight zone, a man comes to a castle, run by some monks, other than some monks there is only one other person, in the castle and he is a prisoner locked in a cell. The prisoner tells the man that he is innocent and locked up for no reason. The head monk Father Jereome tells him that he is the devil and they have finally captured him, and he can’t escape because they have him trapped in the cell. Now the American talks with the man, and he looks perfectly normal, and the American thinks that the monks are crazy, so he goes and opens the door and lets the man out, and of course once released the prisoner takes on his true appearance , of an ugly devil. The American says i didn’t believe you, but it was too late the devil was out. We too must strive to be careful because sometimes sin, sometimes evil looks innocent ar first ,until you open the door and let it out , or more so ,open the door and let it in.
There are wolves in sheep clothing, and there is a spirit of deception that is running through our culture and our nation that needs to be confronted at all times, in all ways ,and in all manners.
So this series of sermons concentrates on deception, and the enemy.
the first sermon I preached was called “In Babylon”, because in the bible from Genesis to Revelations Babylon is place and mindset that is against God!
last week I preached about watching out because the devil is running around like a roaring lion trying to get you.
In this my last sermon in this series I like to ask you a simple question
Come with me to the Gospel of John the 8th chapter.
Jesus told them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, because I have come to you from God. I am not here on my own, but he sent me. Why can’t you understand what I am saying? It’s because you can’t even hear me! For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies. So when I tell the truth, you just naturally don’t believe me!
FATHER GOD I COME AS HUMBLY AS I KNOW HO, ASKING YOU FOR PREACHING POWER, THAT SOMETHING I SAY STRENGTHEN A SAINT OR GETS SOMEONE TO COME TO THE ALTAR , ASKING WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED.

When we talk about any product today, whether it is in the real world or in the virtual world, that product seeks to make it self known by advertising.
There are advertising , and branding slogans, logos all in effort to get you to recognize and buy or support the product.
you know Coke by its sign. Windows by its logo, If i showed you a blue star, you would think cowboys, if the maroon W, you would think commanders.
We are recognized by how we represent. Jesus is “who is your father or in the common vernacular, “whose your Daddy?”
This eighth chapter of John starts off with the Pharisees trying to trap Jesus with the woman caught in the act of adultery.
Brother Mitchell taught this very lesson is Sunday School this morning, which we have in sanctuary and generally on line at 9:00 every Sunday Morning, except Third Sunday because we have that hour of Power service at 9.
after dealing with her accuser, forgiving her, he told her go and send no more!
Somebody here needs to be released from sin.
Somebody is carrying weight that you don’t need to carry , burden down when you don’t need to be burdened ,for my jesus is a burden bearer.
Later in that same chapter, Jesus proclaimed he was the light of the world. and those that followed him would be led out of darkness , into that marvelous light, that light that leads to life.
There some us who are in darkness, some of us struggling, but i tell you try Jesus , let him open your eyes and give light to your situation.
In that 8th chapter he said he would be lifted up, and that we would understand that he did nothing on his own but through the father! we know that he was lifted up, I may not know much, but i know that since he was lifted up, i have been redeemed, brought with a price.
Can I get a witness, any God fearing folks know that one day the sky will crack and Jesus will come riding on a cloud ,yes he will, hallelujah
In that 8th chapter he told them that if they remained faithful they would know the truth , and the truth would set them free!
Free not bound to sin, not stuck in neutral ,free to live as God intended his children to live, not stressed, not worried free, for whom the king has freed is free indeed.
In the scripture read so ably by Deacon Peele, we see jesus is once again at odds with the pharisees, and although it does not say it , i believe Jesus was getting a little frustrated with these people who refused to see the truth.
He tells them they can’t believe him, and can’t understand him because while he is a child of God,
but they are children of the devil.
SO i simply come this morning to ask to questions 1. can you understand and follow Jesus and if not whose is your daddy.
For the enemy can’t understand forgiveness like the woman caught in adultery. The devil can’t understand that a good god can see my faults, see my mess , see my mistakes, and forgive, and still love me. The enemy can’t understand how once I could be in darkness, once I could be all wrong, but through Jesus , I can now walk with my head held up high, knowing that my Jesus has led me to light, may not be perfect but i am walking into the light.
Jesus said he would be lifted up on a cross, and then they would understand who he is,
I know my savior was hung up on cross, and because he got up I know who he is? Anybody here know who he is that was hung on a cross? but the cross could not hold him, for Jesus’ story did not end on the cross and in fact Jesus story has not ended, for I know he is coming back.
For if you know that truth may set you free. For whom the son of God sets free is free indeed!
jesus is having one of his many arguments with the Pharisees.

The pharisees that group of Jewish leaders who opposed him in all he did because they could not or would not understand about Jesus.
And so they opposed him at every turn.
There are some people today that can not or will not understand about Jesus. And the worse thing about it is that they want to take you away from your love of Jesus!.
No matter how much Jesus taught, they would not listen!
Today there are people who will not listen , will not hear what you have to say and will not understand.

Sometimes I wonder if people can hear , and see the things that are happening and still refuse to acknowledge the Lord our God!
Our recent VBS topic was say it out loud , talk about the good ness of God , so that everybody will have heard the good news of Jesus. We need some more positive advertising, about Jesus and his saving grace! More testifying about how good the Lord has been to us. Give me a little more Jesus , because I need just a little more Jesus!
He tells these Pharisees these unbelievers that the reason, that can’t get with him, or understand him, take his words to heart is because of who their father is, he that the adversary is that Father.
He says that Satan is their father.
Devil is a liar
Devil is a liar
And that while he, Jesus comes to set you free, to save you, Satan comes as a liar and a murderer, For Satan comes to kill steal and destroy!
For if you are of the Father you understand the Jesus. but if you are of the devil you only understand the lie
And so the false advertising is acceptable to you, the evil that is done, the evil that is promoted,
The devil likes violence.
devil likes strife
Don’t mind the backbiting because the devil loves the fuss.
Don’t mind the dipping the tipping, and all lying cheating and promiscuity because that what the enemy wants. You listen to the false advertising, because you love a lie and reject the truth.
I talked earlier about branding your product , if you are of truth ,you are of Jesus and if you are lying you belong to the devil. it is time to answer those questions.

if you are full of hate , your daddy
might be Satan
If you are a liar, your daddy may be Satan.
If you are slipping and sliding .
your daddy might be Satan.
For children tend to emulate their parents!
Time is winding up and it it is time to choose.
Jesus is talking!
A Child of God hears and understands Jesus
when he says i am the true vine. because a child of God knows that they need to stay connected to Jesus , need to on the vine,
because a child of God knows
and understand Jesus when he says i am the living water?
Knows that that living water is the spirit of god ,and that the spirit of God never runs out!
because a child of God knows
and understands Jesus when he says I door .
because a child of God knows that there is only one way when in, and that is through Jesus, Can’t sneak in, can buy your way in you need Jesus
because a child of God knows and understands Jesus when he says I am light of the world.
For child a God loves the light the marvelous light , seeing what jesus sees
because a child of God knows when he says I am the good shepherd,
Knows that that is some still water,
A child of God knows that valley of death is not permanent destination , just lay over
A child of God knows that my head will be anointed with oil., A child of the father knows that goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life !
because a child of God knowsCan you understand jesus when he says i am the resurrection and the life.
Knowing that when this old life is over, when i walked the last mile, then I have a home not made by hands, i have crown waiting for me.
Can you understand Jesus when says no weapon formed against you shall prosper
Can you understand Jesus when says i will never leave you nor forsake you
Can you understand jesus when he says I am coming back
if you don’t know whether you belong to Jesus or if the Devil is your Daddy.

that precious blood of the lamb!
have been you covered by the blood,
has the blood washed away your sins
Has the blood made you white a s snow
because it it nothing but the blood, that can save a wretch like me
nothing but the blood . check my blood ,check my DNA
i may not be perfect but i got the Father the son, and the holy ghost blood is running through my veins.
because I have been saved
I got the blood of the lamb because I have been redeemed
I got the blood of Jesus because I have been set free!

Don’t know about you but I am a child of God!
