Mark 8:1-21; Quick to Act

Sermon in a sentence: Being quick to act is not always good.

Quick to Forget (vs. 1-10)

The disciples were quick to forget Jesus fed the 5,000.
OR they thought Jesus wouldn’t have the same compassion or do the same thing he did for the children of Israel.
Jesus was quick to show compassion on these Gentiles.
Do we show compassion to others? Are we quick to look down at others?
Jesus’ eyes were open to see the opportunities around him.

Quick to Demand (vs. 11-13)

The Pharisees were quick to demand a sign from Jesus.
This once again demonstrated their pride and hardened hearts.
We must remember that we are in no position to demand anything from God!
We do not get to demand God’s judgment on others.
Nor God’s grace upon others!
Nor can we “DECLARE” God’s blessings
Signs do not change people; regeneration changes people. (Luke 16:31)
Luke 16:31 ESV
31 He said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.’ ”
3. God will usually deny our demands.

Quick to Misunderstand (vs. 14-21)

The disciples are quick to misunderstand Jesus’ teaching.
They are so earthly minded that they think he is talking about the literal bread.
We have people that have been walking with Jesus for 40+ years and they still don’t understand Jesus.
The disciples did not understand the lessons he was showing them.
Questions:
Do you understand the gospel of Jesus Christ?
If you are a Christian, can you identify spiritual growth in your life?
What are you actively doing to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ?
