TEMPTATIONS

MATTHEW 4:1-11

INTRODUCTION:

We maditate the Temptations of Jesus every year in this Lenten season.

These Temptations of Jesus remind us that we are war with our enemy Satan all the time of our lives.

THE TEMPTATIONS FOR THE CHILDREN OF GOD:

Remember that Satan always on our back to tempt us because we are the children of God. He has no need of tempting others who do not know God, because they already living in sin.

Many of this world religions have no problem with Satan and the sin. The do not have these problem like us with temptations, Satan and sin.

We do have these problems because we are doing God’s work on earth and we are the children of God.

Jesus was tempted because He is the Son of God. Satan wanted to show Him the easiest way to win the soul of human beings to save them and to believe in Him.

However, Jesus faced all temptations and won them with the Word of God. He is our model and our helper to win the temptations.

SATAN KNOWS WHEN TO TEMPT:

Satan tempts us when we are not ready in prayer and with the Word of God. When we are busy with the our own problems of earthly goods.

Look at the passage: Satan tempted Jesus when He was hungry after 40 days of fasting in the wilderness alone. He needed food to eat because He was in the human body.

Eve was also tempted when she was alone in the garden at the forbidden tree that gives knowledge of good and evil.

We the children of God always in prayer and with the word of God and with the company of believers.

DO NOT BLAME GOD FOR TEMPTATIONS:

Some blame God when they are tempted.

James 1:13 says, do not say that, “I am being tempted by God for God can not be tempted with evil and He Himself tempts no one”.

We do tempt because of our worldly evil nature.

We must not yield to the temptations: If we win the temptations we will receive the Crown of Life at the end.

We cannot hide from temptations and we have no chase of escaping. However, we should not put them into practice, which leads us into sin.

Satan, nothing wrong with it, tempted Eve. However, she put it in practice and eats the forbidden fruit.

Jesus did not do that. He won the temptations. He is our model and our helper to win the temptations. Amen
