What The Church Forgot
Luke 15:3 And he spake this parable unto them, saying,
AV Lk 15:4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?
AV Lk 15:5 And when he hath found [it], he layeth [it] on his shoulders, rejoicing.
AV Lk 15:6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together [his] friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.
AV Lk 15:7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.
Jesus was saying if you lost one of your own sheep would you not leave the ninety-nine and go into the wilderness (the dry and desolate places, dangerous what we call off limits) into the dangerous after the one.
And when the shepherd comes home with the lost he calls his neighbors and friend to rejoice with him.
Jesus was saying that there is joy in heaven when one sinner repents more than the ones that are already righteous who don’t need to repent.
The attitude of the Church and her people today is that many of us are guilty of responding the same way THE Pharisees and Sadducees responded.
We ridicule other ministers for talking or even hanging with the sinner man to try and help bring them to repentance or even show them that are in need of a Saviour Jesus.
We’ve become righteous in our own eyes instead of rejoicing when someone repents and comes back to the Father.
We forget that we were once and still are in need of forgiveness.
We even harden our own hearts toward the unbeliever or backslider.
We forget that we’ve been guilty of backsliding, we we’re lost at one time in our lives.
John says it like this; how can you love God, but not love your brother who we see every day who is made in the very image of God.
He says the love of the Father is not in us, in fact we are lying.
We don’t hear many of these messages today.
We should be rejoicing when one comes up for prayer and repentance, a standing ovation is long overdue from us.
The angels in heaven rejoiced we were found.
Shouldn’t we do the same?
In Jude he says we have compassion, and others save with fear pulling them out of the fire hating the garment spotted by the carnal practices.
In other word we need to help the lost take off the garment of the flesh and put on the garment of righteousness.
We need to repent for the way we’ve treated the unbeliever and welcome them with open arms just as Jesus did us and continues to do when we lose our way and are in need of true repentance.
Saints of God let us do the same
