As you walk with Jesus, you see Him at work in your life in incredible ways. As He reveals Himself to us and we experience Him, we are to share His greatness with others. We are to tell of His righteousness, His mighty works and deeds, and His steadfast faithfulness. If others are to see how great God is, we must show them by how He works and moves in our lives.

INTRO

Psalm 71:13–24 ESV
13 May my accusers be put to shame and consumed; with scorn and disgrace may they be covered who seek my hurt. 14 But I will hope continually and will praise you yet more and more. 15 My mouth will tell of your righteous acts, of your deeds of salvation all the day, for their number is past my knowledge. 16 With the mighty deeds of the Lord God I will come; I will remind them of your righteousness, yours alone. 17 O God, from my youth you have taught me, and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds. 18 So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to another generation, your power to all those to come. 19 Your righteousness, O God, reaches the high heavens. You who have done great things, O God, who is like you? 20 You who have made me see many troubles and calamities will revive me again; from the depths of the earth you will bring me up again. 21 You will increase my greatness and comfort me again. 22 I will also praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, O my God; I will sing praises to you with the lyre, O Holy One of Israel. 23 My lips will shout for joy, when I sing praises to you; my soul also, which you have redeemed. 24 And my tongue will talk of your righteous help all the day long, for they have been put to shame and disappointed who sought to do me hurt.

1)Tell of…His Righteousness!

God’s Righteousness (v.16, 19)
Definition of Righteousness: “The quality, state, and characteristic of being in the right.”
There is much in this world that proposed to be correct and in the right, but there is only one who embodies righteousness…God and God alone (v.16)
All that God does is right and correct
All that God thinks is right and correct
All that God says is right and correct and true
Could it be that we are in the state we are in as a nation because we have abandoned the righteousness of God and sought to redefine truth and what is right?
Could it be that we are in the state we are in as individuals because we have abandoned the righteousness of God and sought to redefine truth and what is right?
God’s Righteous Help (v.24)
Even in the state of our own turmoil or the turmoil of the world around us, God preserves us in His righteousness!
God is a strong tower in which we can find refuge.
As we turn from the morals and merits of this world and seek the statutes and precepts of God, our hearts are protected and preserved…even when we are persecuted for righteousness sake (Matt. 5:10).
Jesus says we are blessed if this is our plight for the kingdom of heaven belongs to us.
God’s righteous help is eternal and sure!

2) Tell of…His Deeds!

Deeds of Salvation (v.15)
Spoke upon this extensively last week.
Mighty Deeds (v.16)
The might deeds of God are incredible!
Think of what you have been able to come through and overcome in your life.
Think about all of the incredible things you have seen God do in this world.
Look at nature around you and see the mighty deeds of God.
Look in the face of a newborn baby and see the mighty deeds of God.
Look in the mirror and see a life that is changed and see the mighty deeds of God.
Look at the friend who is walking in courage, grace, and peace as they journey through some of the darkest and most trying times of their lives and see the mighty deeds of God.
Wondrous Deeds (v.17-18)
God still does miracles!
Look at the wondrous and miraculous deeds of God!
Look to the moment that are “Only God” moments or times in your life where it was “a God thing” and see the wondrous deeds of God.
Proclaim these things to everyone, but especially to the next generation!
How will they know of God’s mighty work we have experienced in our own lives if we do not tell them?
When was the last time you gathered your children and told them of God’s saving, mighty, and wondrous deeds?
When was the last time you told your grandchildren about the specifics of the deeds of God in your life?
They won’t know, unless you tell them!

3) Tell of…His Faithfulness!

God will bring us up again (v.20)
We will all face hard times. That’s the reality of living in a broken world.
As we face hardship, we know that God will bring us through the hardship. In our weakness, His strength will be made perfect.
God increase our greatness (v.21, 23)
The picture here is one of worth and wholeness.
It is through our redemption, the notion that value has been restored by value that is placed, that we find worth and wholeness.
God will comfort us (v.21)
God is also able to bring us comfort and security when our lives seem to be falling apart and uncertain.
He is faithful to stay near to the broken hearted (Psalm 34:18).
He never leaves us nor forsakes us. That is why we can be sure that He is faithful to comfort us with His presence, guidance, and precepts.
God will protect us (v.24)
When others are against us (especially when we are walking in righteousness) God is for us. He sees us through the attacks to our lives and character.
We do not always come through like we think, but we always come through and in the best ways possible in grand view of things.
God uses the stumbling blocks others throw in our paths to be stepping stones that elevate His glory in our lives.
