1 Timothy 5:1-25
Introduction: We have just finished taking communion and if we followed the steps that God desires we took the time to make sure that we in proper standing before the Lord.
That would include being in a right relationship with each other as well!
In 1 Timothy, Paul has been talking to Timothy about how to be a good pastor.
In chapters 5 and 6 he tells him how to deal with 8 different groups of people in the church.
The church consists of people.
It is a family, and like all families sometimes there are some struggles that go on in them.
Paul tells Timothy how to deal with people at church.
They are skills that we need as well!

**Men*
a.
Older men
i.
Treat them like a father
ii.
Deal with them in humility and respect
Titus 2:1-2 (NIV) You must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine.
2 Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.
1 Peter 5:5-6 (KJV) Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder.
Yea, all /of you/ be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

Younger men
i.
Treat them as brothers

a.
Older women
Titus 2:3-4 (NIV) Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good.
4 Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children,

There is a responsibility to closely examine and let them be proved.

There is a judgment where all will be revealed, good and bad.

Use a little wine instead of just water for your health.
Conclusion: It is important that we treat each other with humility and respect.
We all will make mistakes and have room for personal growth.
We need to continue to be a church full of people that care for each other and deal with one another in a God honoring fashion.
