Exodus 39: A Holy People

Sermon in a sentence: God’s people are to be holy and serve him.

Holy Clothing (vs.1-30)

Just like the furniture, the priests are supposed to be covered in precious metals and stones.
Even the priests in themselves are not holy enough to be in the presence of the Lord.

Holy Service (vs. 30-31)

The priests were to be holy so that they could serve the Lord.
They served the Lord as a representative of God’s people.
Deuteronomy 21:22–23 ESV
22 “And if a man has committed a crime punishable by death and he is put to death, and you hang him on a tree, 23 his body shall not remain all night on the tree, but you shall bury him the same day, for a hanged man is cursed by God. You shall not defile your land that the Lord your God is giving you for an inheritance.
Galatians 3:13 ESV
13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”—

Holy Blessing (vs. 32-43)

Moses blessed God’s people for their work.
Genesis 1:27–28 ESV
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
