The Ten Commandments

Exodus 20:1-17

Israel's legal code is contained in six hundred thirteen laws. These laws embrace all phases of life, personal and national, moral and spiritual, domestic and international. They probe such minutiae as bird-nesting and women's apparel and such matters as the rights and restrictions of kings and who can and cannot be a priest. A knowledge of the Law of Moses is a useful introduction to the gospel of grace. It lays a good moral foundation for the gospel. Paul says that it is, indeed, our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ.
