1 Peter 1:17–21 NKJV
And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear; knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.
The word call on is ἐπικαλέω=epikaleo

① to call upon deity for any purpose (‘invoke’ Hdt. 2, 39; 3, 8) to call upon, call out

② to address or characterize someone by a special term, call, give a surname

The Greek Analytical lexicon says it means to call on or to attach or connect a name.
It is dealing with prayer but as an identifying marker of God’s children.
Therefore, this passage is dealing with prayer, but for intent and purpose it is addressing our identity in Christ, as God’s children.
Have you ever experienced mistaken identity?
If you were to stand trial for being a Christian is there enough evidence to convict you?
Sister Margaret had spent weeks preparing the first grade children for their first communion, stressing the solemnity and importance of this ordinance.
Much to her chagrin, during the service on the big day, one boy in the front row was talking and giggling nonstop. Finally, unable to put up with it any longer, she whispered to the lad seated next to her, “Please go up there and tell that one he’s done enough talking and had better stop, right now!”
Without question, the boy walked to the front and delivered Sister Margaret’s message to the surprised pastor in the middle of his sermon!

I. A Right Conduct

A. Faithfulness in our duties.

We will be judged by our work.
1 Corinthians 4:2 NKJV
Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.

B. Work in fear.

I want to clarify that the believer is not working to obtain salvations, but rather working from salvation.
Salvation is not do, it is done. Adrian Rogers
Yet, this is not a license to sin or to sit on our laurels. It is a license to go and serve with assurance.
Don’t get the idea that Jesus died to save you from Hell. No, He died to save you from sin, and if He can’t save you from sin, He cant save you from hell. Adrian Rogers
Philippians 2:12 NKJV
Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;
1 Corinthians 3:11–15 NKJV
For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

II. A Right Perspective

A. Not of Corruption

1 Peter 1:23 NKJV
having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,

1. Wealth 2. Traditions of men

B. The blood of Jesus

We have had a blood transfusion and are no longer the same.
2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

III. A Right Belief

A. Because of the resurrection of Jesus

1 Thessalonians 1:10 NKJV
and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.

B. Because of the revelation of Jesus

2 Timothy 1:8–10 NKJV
Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,
