Zephaniah 3:17 NKJV
17 The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”
Worship is a spiritual affair.
John 4:24 NKJV
24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
Key word: MUST
Is essential — is the only way to approach God.
Romans 1:9 (NKJV)
9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of His Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers,
The context of John 4:24 is of life giving water. So we can see that worship is closely connected to God’s personalized life-giving activity.
When you offer your spirit to Him in praise and worship, His Spirit enlivens your spirit.
New life flows into you from the Creator.
It’s too good to miss, but yet many do.
Genuine worship occurs only when the spirit, the immortal and invisible part of man, speaks to and meets with God.
We must understand the spiritual dynamics of true Spirit-led worship because all other worship activities are nothing more than religious calisthenics.
Hebrews 2:11–12 NKJV
11 For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren, 12 saying: “I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will sing praise to You.”
This passage reveals the powerful position of true worshippers and the Lord’s attitude toward them.
Romans 8:17 NKJV
17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

LOOK WHO’S TALKING!

What does Jesus do in our worship services?
Hebrews 2:12 NKJV
12 saying: “I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will sing praise to You.”
Did you know that Jesus attends church?
Matthew 18:20 NKJV
20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”
Psalm 22:3 NKJV
3 But You are holy, Enthroned in the praises of Israel.
Jesus comes in and begins to do at least 2 things:
1. He declares God’s name to His brethren...
2. He, through us, praises God.
Hebrews 2:12 NKJV
12 saying: “I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will sing praise to You.”
Notice it is Jesus who is talking....
God revealed Himself to Moses as
Yahweh:
Exodus 3:14–15 NKJV
14 And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ” 15 Moreover God said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.’
Until that time Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob had not known Him as Yahweh or Jehovah.
They had known Him as God Almighty:
Exodus 6:3 NKJV
3 I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as God Almighty, but by My name Lord I was not known to them.
Jehovah: “the self-existent one or eternal one who reveals Himself”
A memorial to all generations this name would remind them of His covenant with them.
His word of promise is everlasting because He Himself is eternal and unchangeable in His nature. He is, therefore, faithful and unchangeable in His Word and promises.
However a different need would arise from time to time and God would reveal the fact that He could faithfully meet those needs.
There is only one God, but He has a plethora of attributes.
The redemptive names of God in the OT reveal His redemptive relationship with His people.

HE MEETS EVERY NEED

The 7 Redemptive Names demonstrate how capable He is of meeting every area of human need.
Jehova Jirah — The Lord our Provision
Jehova Rapha — The Lord our Healer
Jehova Nissi — The Lord our Banner
Jehova Shalom — The Lord our Peace
Jehova Rohi — The Lord our Shepherd
Jehova Tsidkenu - The Lord our Righteousness
Jehova Shammah — The Lord is Here
With these names in mind, let’s look again at Heb 2:12 and the concept of Jesus in our Worship.
When He arrives He is seeking true worshippers (John 4:23)
When He finds one, He declares to that person’s spirit one of the names of God:
For example if they are in financial or material need He makes a point of saying, “I am Jehova Jirah — your Provider!”
Those who need divine healing hear the Spirit of the Lord say, “I am Jehovah Rapha — your Healer!”
The single mom in the back of the room who’s life has been shattered by divorce and who doesn’t know which way to turn finds Jesus walking up to her and saying, “I am Jehovah — your Peace!”
In our worship, Jesus begins to declare the redemptive names of God to His brethren.....
Hebrews 2:12 (NKJV)
12 saying: “I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will sing praise to You.”
In effect Christ in us begins to praise.
My praise as a lone , fallible, weak human being might not seem like much.
But, when I understand that Christ in me,...
When the comforter has come....
The Lord says, I’m going to sing ...

WHAT HAPPENS IN HEAVEN

Zephaniah 3:17 NKJV
17 The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”
This passage is loaded with revelation about heavenly activity.
God in our midst is Mighty!
Our worship is what attracts Him!
Psalm 22:3 NKJV
3 But You are holy, Enthroned in the praises of Israel.
As He inhabits our praise, God rejoices over us with singing.
Rejoice: “to be joyful, happy, delighted, elated, ecstatic, overjoyed, jubilant, rapturous; to jump for joy, to be on cloud nine, to be in the seventh heaven; to celebrate or to cheer.”
Get this picture in your mind: God,
cheering and jumping in the heavens,
filled with joy and happiness concerning a group of people on a Wednesday night, who are worshipping Him.
When we all sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus there is much activity happening!
Luke 10:21 (NKJV)
21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight.
Luke 15:10 NKJV
10 Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
Do angels rejoice?
I believe that God rejoices and his joy is contagious!
