God Reminds Israel (vs. 1-9)

ANE treaties began with the mightier party recounting their splendor. Likewise, God reminds Israel who he is and what he has done.
God is covenantally faithful ( חֶ֥סֶד וֶאֱמֶֽת) He will forgive because he is longsuffering, yet he will not allow sin to go unpunished.

God Renews The Covenant (vs. 10-28)

God begins with his acts of salvation.
God requires that no other covenants be made or cut with these other peoples -Joshua 9.
God recounts the ten commandments ( דָּבָר עֲשֶׂ֫רֶת) to Israel.

God Restores His Image (vs. 29-35)

Moses is shining with the reflected glory of God like Adam was supposed to on the holy mountain of God, Eden.
Mark 9 - The Transfiguration
We see Jesus on the mountain with Moses and Elijah. The Law and the Prophets testifying to him as he is the radiance of God’s glory.
Jesus as the image of God
2 Corinthians 4:4 ESV
4 In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
Colossians 1:15–20 ESV
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. 19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.
