Yes....
God gave us the Bible through the inspiration of Holy Spirit written down by at least 40 people over 1500 years
It is the authoritve word of God
The beleivers greatest gift given by God is the Bible
without the Bible, We’d all be left to our own devices to discover who God really is.
It very apparent how that’s working out for the people of the world.
The Bible is the standard through which God reveals Himself to all of mankind
It literally the written word of God to His creation.
It contains the answers people are looking for
and yet so many beleivers read it as a “have too”,
rather than the awesomeness of the reality we “Get too”
Every true beleiver acceptst the Bible as the word of God as it was intended to be understood
If you pick and choose what in the Bible you will beleive and what you won’t, you are making yourelf the authority and simply using the Bible as a supporting document.
please don’t call yourself a beleiver.
A true believer accepts the authority of the Word of God and adjusts their beleifs to come into alingment with what the Bible is teaching.
then and only then can the Bible come alive in your life!
You can think of it like an assembly manual. like the kind you get from IKEA
If you choose what parts of the manual you will follow and, and neglect other parts
the end product will not be what the designer intended.
Same is true with the Bible you either accept it completely or it can’t turn you into God’s intended plan
Paul who was mentoring Timothy wrote him a second letter
10 Now you followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, perseverance,
11 persecutions, and sufferings, such as happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium and at Lystra; what persecutions I endured, and out of them all the Lord rescued me!
12 Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
13 But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.
14 You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them,
15 and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;
17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
The Bible equips us to do what God is calling us to do.
But I’m not just talking about reading it, We need to absorb it and allow it to be the lense through which we see everything.
Now there are people who accept the Bible as a historical peice of literature.
those who might even say it has good moral teachings
but its so much more than that
its the active living word of God
Its not just a book that you can read,
but rather its a collection of books given by God to read us!

What does the word Inspired mean?
some translations say it as God Breathed
meaning God spoke the words and the people did the writing.
Paul wrote in his first letter to the Church in Corinth
12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God,
13 which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words.
Its not trance writing ........
rather the fact that God divinely influenced the human authors of the Scriptures in such a way that what they wrote was the very Word of God.
Inspiration means the Bible truly is the Word of God and makes the Bible unique among all other books.
I get a glipse of that quite often when I write my sermons, there are many times that when I’m wrting something
I’ll stop and say boy that is good, I’m fully aware it did not come from me.....but I still wrote it
Now I’m not putting my sermons on the same level of Scripture
what I’m saying is I understand the process Holy Spirit lead the writers of the Bible

we can tell there are different personalitys who contributed to writing the Bible
you can see that around 40 people authored the various books included in the Bible
35 are specifically mentioned as writters, but some books we are not told who wrote them like the book of Hebrews
and some books have multiple authors
you can see their personality and writing style as unique, but what they are saying was Inspired by Holy Spirit

Now some skeptics may say well how did Moses know what happened before He was born such as early Genesis

Well when you lay down the life charts of the earliest humans listed in the Bible
with their longevity and age they had offspring.
We can see that Lamech lived during Adams life
Lamech is Noahs Father
And Abraham lived while Noah was alive
We have writings from Abrahams era,
so its safe to conclude the wrtings could have been passed on for Moses to record 300 years later
or though oral traditions
Stories are remembered and passed from genertion to generation
But we also beleive Moses was lead by Holy Spirit, and that’s how we know we can trust them.

This little exercise shows God used many different people from different professions, to reveal His intentions for His creation
He didn’t rely on 1 person or even 1 generation.

Many people may recognize the word koine from the word koinonia, which means “fellowship.”
Fellowship is having something in common.
Koine Greek arose as a common dialect within the armies of Alexander the Great.

it was penned in this language so the most people could understand it.
quite the opposite of the Catholic church keeping it in latin for hundreds of years so only the priest could read it

The first person to speak of a collection was Daniel the Prophet.
It is believed The OT began being assembled during the reign of Hezekiah of Judah in the 8th century B.C.
but some beleive by Ezra in the 4th Century BC
from first century author Flavius Josephus we discover that the sacred writings were kept in the temple before it was destroyed in A.D. 70.
Therefore we have a continuous testimony about the Old Testament canon from the time of Moses until the destruction of the second temple in A.D. 70.

Each part of the NT books are distinguished by their divine qualities, reception by the collective body, and their apostolic connection, either by authorship or association.
From the beginning, the Early Church used three criteria to discern which books measured up to what you would expect from the Word of God.
First, the books must be biblical.

We know that Paul wrote at least three letters to the Corinthian church, and yet only two of them carried marks of canonicity,
because the other letters were not extensively circulated and have been lost in history

In this letter Athanasius mentions 27 books the church accepted as being the New Testament

Council of Carthage met in A.D. 397
Part of the council's work was to publish the names of the 27 books that the church held to be genuine Scripture.
Both the Eastern and Western Churches solidified the 27 NT books we have today
by the middle-to-late fourth century the church had no question about the 27 books that would comprise the New Testament.
