Sermon

Luke 15:8–10 NKJV
8 “Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? 9 And when she has found it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I lost!’ 10 Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
2 Corinthians 5:6–8 NKJV
6 So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.
Psalm 116:15 NKJV
15 Precious in the sight of the Lord Is the death of His saints.
Matthew 25:21 NKJV
21 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’

1. Death for the believer, is only the end of the work day, its not the end of life!

"Some day you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead. Don't you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God." -Billy Graham
on June 19th 2023 Jeanie Irwin, slipped off this earthly coil, took her last breath here, and her first breath there!
no more pain,
no more struggle.
no more shame.
no more labored breathing,
Just perfection in the presence of the Lord.
She is in the presence of the Lord!
she has entered into her rest!
my hope is that she heard the Lord Jesus say “well done!”

2. Why do we weep?

we weep because we are absent from her.
God cares about your tears.
Psalm 56:8 NKJV
8 You number my wanderings; Put my tears into Your bottle; Are they not in Your book?
He knows our pain.
He understands our distress.
maybe you had unfinished business with Jeanie.
maybe you didn’t get to make it right, I feel confident about this:
she wouldn't want you to waste one unnecessary moment in grief over unfinished business. I think she would point you to Jesus.
she would tell you to be of service!
when you told her some kinda something about your past she would tell you about Kairos outside, she would tell you she found a place of love, she would tell you she found a place of healing. she would tell you she found a place of great service! she would tell you she found a place of freedom.

3. Death has Lost its sting!

1 Corinthians 15:55 NKJV
55 “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?”
1 Thessalonians 4:13–18 NKJV
13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.
Like the Great Reverend Graham, She has not died she has only changed addresses!
She will be there when we get there!
Jeanie would tell you that here relationship with The Lord is the most important thing to Her.
I don’t grieve like the lost, I know on that morning when the Lord of glory Calls me home I will see her again!
