You are So Loved
Last week we ended the service by singing
Jesus Loves me this i know for the Bible tells me so.....
Now i believe that song is referring to the whole Bible from Genesis 1 through the end of Revelation
BUT if you needed to nail it down to one verse....
it is
Possibly the most known VERSE in the BIBLE
in Fact it is said
that it is the Gospel in a verse.
I remember a student in class, challenging the Pastor to give the Full Gospel in under one minute.
The Pastor thought a few seconds and repeated John 3:16
John 3:16 (ESV)
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
But today I want to teach on it, not simply repeat it, or post it,
or grease marker it on my Face
I want you to grow in understanding of this verse.
It is my desire that the next time you hear it,
you hear it with your heart.
Ephesians 1:18 (ESV)
18 having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,
That is my prayer for you today.

To understand this verse, we have to pickup where we left off last week
In the last verse we read....
John 3:14–15 (ESV)
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.
in the time of the Book of Numbers
The Israelites were speaking out against God and grumbling
Why would God bring us to a place with no food, no water,
there hearts were turned to the negative and they were certainly not glorifying GOD.
God sends fiery serpents — many were bitten and many died.
The Israelites came to Moses and ask him to PRAY.
they see the error of their ways and seek forgiveness of their sins.
So Moses prays
and God tells him to make a serpent and lift it up on a pole
SO THAT everyone who was bitten and sees it shall live

Jesus came to allow ALL who were bitten by SIN
to BELIEVE in Him so that you may LIVE.
this is important
the OLD and the NEW
and it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that you realize
that it is
CHRIST who makes the statement from the Book of Numbers
and it is Jesus that states our verse for today.
John 3:16 (ESV)
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:17–18 (ESV)
17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
John 3:19–21 (ESV)
19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.
20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed.
21 But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”
Who is it for?

Simple Question, isn’t it?
but who is it for?
the Jews
the Muslims
the Hindu
the americans
the europeans
Who is it for?
Why would Jesus say this and to whom is He saying it?
Maybe we should remember
29 The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
the lamb of God ---- takes away the SIN OF THE WORLD
so we went back to the Book of Numbers, and then back in the Book of John
but maybe we go all the way back to the beginning.

the fall of man
In a quick overview
God creates this perfect world
Everything that Man needs is there
Man is given dominion over all things
and best of all Man has community with God Himself
Then
Man and woman disobey God
Satan waves the bait and they bite (literally)
Sin enters the world
ALL of mankind is cursed.
but don’t miss one of the most important parts
The WHY
Genesis 3:22–23 (ESV)
22 Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever—”
23 therefore the Lord God sent him out from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken.
Man disobeyed
Man learned GOOD and EVIL
— THIS IS THE ANSWER TO WHY THERE IS EVIL IN THE WORLD
and the problem became that
God was not going to allow
Disobedient Man and women to live forever
DO YOU SEE IT YET?
God removed them from the Garden, from Fellowship with Himself
Because God was not going to allow
the fallen, evil, deceitful man creation to live forever
GOD WAS NOT GOING TO LET EVIL RULE FOREVER
God’s WORD is always Perfect
God is LOVE
GOD IS GRACE
but He is ALSO TRUTH AND JUSTICE
God desired to be able to reunite Humans to Himself
Now lets fast forward a few thousand years...

18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
God’s Love for His creation had never left
so the TIME — His Perfect Timing has come
Time to allow a way to break the CURSE
as with the Israelites and Moses serpent
An action was required by Man
TO BELIEVE
I do agree that 3:16 is the Gospel,
but I also believe that the full Gospel
must included by reading verse 17-18
17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
This time God sends His Son
not to condemn but to Save the WORLD
Let me remind you of TRUTH
Not all will go to HEAVEN
YOU MUST BE A BELIEVER IN CHRIST
and to clarify
God didn’t condemn them after Jesus’s baptism,
Didn’t condemn them after the CROSS
He didn’t condemn them after they condemned HIM
He died
so that WE COULD LIVE
Man was already condemned with the actions of Adam and EVE
Frankly, if you refuse Jesus, if you don’t want to get on His Program
then why in the world would you be upset not going to Heaven to be with Him any way.
Why would you want to spend eternity with someone that you don’t know and don’t love.
Friends… that is NOT me and i pray it is not YOU.
I love Jesus,
I want to Know more and more about Him,
I want to tell everyone about the ONE that I LOVE.
Judgement

look frankly it is up to YOU
It is up to them
CHOOSE TO BELIEVE
Jesus’s word is clear
19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.
Stop the blinding of Satan
I am not judging anyone
I am clear that GOD wants all to go to HEAVEN
God loved us so much
that He sent His only son
SO THAT all who Believe in Him will have Eternal LIFE.
if you chose to LOVE THE WORLD
if you CHOSE to love the Darkness over the LIGHT
then Jesus says SO BE IT.
If you go to your grave rejecting me
then so be it
but if you believe in ME
if you seek me, abide in ME
if you love ME
you will never die, but have eternal life.
Jesus is the WAY
JESUS is the TRUTH
JESUS is the LIFE
You must make a choice
Not believing is A CHOICE ---
Jesus wants you
Jesus died for You
Jesus rose again and ascended into Heaven
to sit at the Right hand of God.
Psalm 139:23–24 (ESV)
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! 24 And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!
Chose to open your heart
Chose to REPENT
CHOSE TO BE LEAD by the LAMB OF GOD
All you have to do is BELIEVE
the REST has BEEN DONE.
