Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the
1 Καὶ σημεῖον μέγα ὤφθη ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ, γυνὴ περιβεβλημένη τὸν

ἥλιον, καὶ ἡ σελήνη ὑποκάτω τῶν ποδῶν αὐτῆς, καὶ ἐπὶ τῆς κεφαλῆς
head      a garland   of twelve    stars.
αὐτῆς στέφανος ἀστέρων δώδεκα·
\\  Then   being  with child, she cried out in labor and in pain  to  give birth.
2 καὶ ἐν γαστρὶ ἔχουσα, κράζει ὠδίνουσα, καὶ βασανιζομένη τεκεῖν.
\\ And  another sign appeared in    heaven:   behold,    a great, fiery red dragon
3 καὶ ὤφθη ἄλλο σημεῖον ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ, καὶ ἰδοὺ δράκων μέγας πυρρός,
having  seven   heads  and   ten     horns, and    seven   diadems     on
ἔχων κεφαλὰς ἑπτὰ καὶ κέρατα δέκα, καὶ ἐπὶ τὰς κεφαλὰς αὐτοῦ
     his         heads.
διαδήματα ἑπτά.
\\                 His   tail    drew     a    third   of   the stars   of      heaven and   threw
4 καὶ ἡ οὐρὰ αὐτοῦ σύρει τὸ τρίτον τῶν ἀστέρων τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, καὶ ἔβαλεν
 them      to   the earth.
And the dragon   stood      before   the woman
αὐτοὺς εἰς    τὴν γῆν· καὶ ὁ δράκων ἕστηκεν ἐνώπιον τῆς γυναικὸς
   who was ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon as it   was born.
τῆς μελλούσης τεκεῖν, ἵνα, ὅταν τέκῃ τὸ τέκνον αὐτῆς.
καταφάγῃ.

   She  bore   a male  Child  who was         to rule         all          nations with
5 καὶ ἔτεκεν υἱόν, ἄρρενα, ὃς μέλλει ποιμαίνειν πάντα τὰ ἔθνη ἐν
a rod  of  iron.
And      her              Child was   caught up to God and
ῥάβδῳ σιδηρᾷ· καὶ ἡρπάσθη τὸ τέκνον αὐτῆς πρὸς τὸν Θεὸν καὶ τὸν
  His     throne.
θρόνον αὐτοῦ.

Then the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared
6 καὶ ἡ γυνὴ ἔφυγεν εἰς τὴν ἔρημον, ὅπου ἔχει τόπον ἡτοιμασμένον
   by         God,  that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred
ἀπὸ τοῦ Θεοῦ, ἵνα ἐκεῖ τρέφωσιν αὐτὴν ἡμέρας χιλίας διακοσίας
and sixty days.
ἑξήκοντα.
And   war        broke out in        heaven:   Michael and his angels fought with the dragon;
7 Καὶ ἐγένετο πόλεμος ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ· ὁ Μιχαὴλ καὶ οἱ ἄγγελοι αὐτοῦ ἐπολέμησαν
 and    the      dragon     and        his           angels        fought,
κατὰ τοῦ δράκοντος· καὶ ὁ δράκων ἐπολέμησε καὶ οἱ ἄγγελοι αὐτοῦ,
\\ but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer.
\\ 8 καὶ οὐκ ἴσχυσαν, οὐτὲ τόπος εὑρέθη αὐτῶν ἔτι ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ.

  So the great dragon  was cast out, that serpent of old,   called            the Devil  and
9 καὶ ἐβλήθη ὁ δράκων ὁ μέγας, ὁ ὄφις ὁ ἀρχαῖος, ὁ καλούμενος διάβολος καὶ ὁ
Satan,    who deceives the    whole    world;  he was cast to the earth, and his angels were
Σατανᾶς, ὁ πλανῶν τὴν οἰκουμένην ὅλην· ἐβλήθη εἰς τὴν γῆν, καὶ οἱ ἄγγελοι αὐτοῦ
cast    out  with   him.
\\ μετ ̓ αὐτοῦ ἐβλήθησαν.
\\ \\
   Then I heard   a loud    voice       saying       in      heaven, “Now salvation, and strength,
10 καὶ ἤκουσα φωνὴν μεγάλην λέγουσαν, ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ, Ἄρτι ἐγένετο ἡ σωτηρία
and the kingdom  of   our  God,   and    the   power   of   His Christ have come, for the καὶ ἡ δύναμις καὶ ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν, καὶ ἡ ἐξουσία τοῦ Χριστοῦ αὐτοῦ· ὅτι
accuser  of    our brethren,  who accused   them   before   our   God  day    and     night,
κατἐβλήθη ὁ κατήγορος τῶν ἀδελφῶν ἡμῶν, ὁ κατηγορῶν αυτῶν ἐνώπιον τοῦ Θεοῦ
has   been   cast      down.
ἡμῶν ἡμέρας καὶ νυκτός.
\\  And    they     overcame   him   by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their 11 καὶ αὐτοὶ ἐνίκησαν αὐτὸν διὰ τὸ αἷμα τοῦ ἀρνίου καὶ διὰ τὸν λόγον τῆς
testimony,    and they did not       love             their     lives   to   the death.
\\ μαρτυρίας αὐτῶν, καὶ οὐκ ἠγάπησαν τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτῶν ἄχρι θανάτου.

     Therefore        rejoice,      O heavens, and you    who    dwell in them!
Woe to the
12 διὰ τοῦτο εὐφραίνεσθε, οἱ οὐρανοὶ καὶ οἱ ἐν αὐτοῖς σκηνοῦντες.
οὐαὶ τοῖς
inhabitants of the earth and the        sea!
For the devil has come down to you, having κατοικοῦσι τὴν γῆν καὶ τὴν θάλασσαν, ὅτι κατέβη ὁ διάβολος πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἔχων
great    wrath,  because he knows that he has a short time.
θυμὸν μέγαν, εἰδὼς ὅτι ὀλίγον καιρὸν ἔχει.

Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman
13 Καὶ ὅτε εἶδεν ὁ δράκων ὅτι ἐβλήθη εἰς τὴν γῆν, ἐδίωξε τὴν γυναῖκα ἥτις ἔτεκε
who gave birth to the male Child.
τὸν ἄρρενα.

   But   the woman was given   two   wings       of   a great          eagle, that she might fly
14 καὶ ἐδόθησαν τῇ γυναικὶ δύο πτέρυγες τοῦ ἀετοῦ τοῦ μεγάλου, ἵνα πέτηται εἰς
into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a
τὴν ἔρημον εἰς τὸν τόπον αὐτῆς, ὅπου τρέφεται ἐκεῖ καιρὸν, καὶ καιροὺς καὶ ἥμισυ
time, from the presence of the serpent.

 So the serpent   spewed    water   out   of   his   mouth   like   a flood   after  the  woman,
15 καὶ ἔβαλεν ὁ ὄφις ὀπίσω τῆς γυναικὸς εκ̓ τοῦ στόματος αὐτοῦ ὕδωρ ὡς ποταμόν,
that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood.
\\ ἵνα ταὐτὴν ποταμοφόρητον ποιήσῃ.
\\ \\
 But the earth helped  the      woman, and the earth opened its mouth  and swallowed up
16 καὶ ἐβοήθησεν ἡ γῆ τῇ γυναικί, καὶ ἤνοιξεν ἡ γῆ τὸ στόμα αὐτῆς, καὶ κατέπιε
the   flood    which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth.
\\ τὸν ποταμὸν ὃν ἔβαλεν ὁ δράκων ἐκ τοῦ στόματος αὐτοῦ.

  And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war    with    the
17 καὶ ὠργίσθη ὁ δράκων ἐπὶ τῇ γυναικί, καὶ ἀπῆλθε ποιῆσαι πόλεμον μετὰ τῶν
   rest       of      her      offspring, who    keep    the commandments of God and     have
λοιπῶν τοῦ σπέρματος αὐτῆς, τῶν τηρούντων τὰς ἐντολὰς τοῦ Θεοῦ καὶ ἐχόντων
the     testimony   of    Jesus    Christ.
