Where does biblical authority come from?
Why should we listen and obey the words of Paul in the letter to the Galatians?
Why is Paul choosing this time in this letter to use his authority with such enthusiasm?

Authority of Paul (1)

The Divine Message (Not of men)
God called Paul and appointed him a missionary to the gentiles (Acts 9:1-17)
Paul’s message to the gentiles of salvation was God’s message
The Divine Mission (Not by men)
Paul was not sent by Jerusalem, Peter or John but by God
This message was given directly to Paul from God. Paul’s authority is from God alone.
Why this is stated for Galatians- God called Paul to go the gentiles and preach the grace of Christ in salvation by faith alone

Authority of the Church (2)

Jerusalem not needed
First sign of all false religions is a hierarchy (पदानुक्रम) within the religion
This letter is written by Paul and the church he is at. He is not alone in his believes but stands united with fellow believers in Christ
Brothers and sisters in Christ
Equality among all followers of Christ in faith (3:7)
Paul scolds the foolish galatians because they have been tricked into believing that they have to add works to their salvation. They fell for the lie of others who showed up claiming to be greater and more saved
Paul however, came in weakness (4:12-13)
Why this is stated for Galatians- We are all together followers of Christ and can have a personal relationship with him. Nothing more needs to be done to bring us closer to God. By faith we are a child of God

Authority of God and Christ

According to the will of God and our Father
Grace and Peace come from God who paid the price to have us rescued from this evil world
We were part of this evil world and could therefore not save ourselves from it
Any works that I do of myself is tainted by the world
Christ came from heaven and lived a life pleasing to God that we might be saved
To him be glory for ever
Because salvation is 100% of God he deserves all the praise and glory
To offer anything in exchange for his gift of salvation is to offend (अपमान) the giver of the gift and take away from his glory deserved in giving it

Why this is stated for Galatians- God willed to bring the gospel to the whole world without respect to any person or group
