Someone remind me of what we learned yesterday?
What is sin?
Where does it come from?
What has God done for us?
What does it mean to be sensitive to sin?
Introduction to 1 John 2:15-17.

Open your bibles to 1 John 2:15-17. (READ).
What are affections? Or what does it mean to be affectionate?
We often think of these as emotions or feelings of “love”. While it definitely is that, but it comes out of our new heart that God has given us.
What affection is most known?
Love!
Did you know that there is a love that God hates?
We are not to love this world.
What about John 3:16?
The world we are talking about is not the people, but the “world system”, which is ran by the enemy.
James 4:4 “You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore, whoever wishes to be a friend of the world sets himself as an enemy of God.”
John 12:31 ““Now judgment is upon this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.”
2 Corinthians 4:3-4 “And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, in whose case the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.”
“Lust”
Passionate desire for something.
“…of the flesh...”
The flesh is another way that the bible calls our sinful, evil, hearts. The enemy and the world uses things in this world to tempt our sinful hearts to sin. But we are able to say no to sin.
“…of the eyes...”
This is the lust that tempts the thought life. Rather that just sticking to the base desires of humanity, we see that our thoughts are drawn into sin.
“…the boastful pride of life...”
What is pride?
This is anything that would place us into a higher place that we truly desire.
Genesis 3:1-6. Satan tempted Eve in the garden in this very way.
