"Fatherhood Matters"

I. Fatherhood is honored by God. (Eph. 6:1-3; Prov. 1:8, 6:20; II Timothy 3:1-4; (Psalm 128:1-4).

II. Fatherhood is an amazing privilege.

• A. An opportunity to shape a life. (Ps. 144:12; Heb. 12:5ff).
• B. An opportunity to make a difference.
• C. An opportunity to point children to God. (Eph. 6:4; Deut. 6:4-9; Josh. 24:15).

III. Fatherhood is a huge responsibility.

• A. Dealing with craziness.
• B. Setting a positive example. (I Cor. 16:13-14; Titus 2:6-8).
• C. Answering to God. (Matt. 25:14ff).

Fatherhood matters, so it deserves honor.

• A. From fathers.
• B. From others. (Rom. 13:7).
• 1. Obedience. (Eph. 6:1-3; Col. 3:20; Lk. 2:51; Prov. 10:1, 13:1, 15:5, 17:21).
• 2. Respect. (Lev. 19:32; Eph. 5:33).
• 3. Help.
• 4. Understanding.
• 5. Encouragement.
• 6. Gratitude.

I will honor my heavenly Father and human fatherhood with my faithful, sacrificial life.
