“The Perfect Picture”

*John** 2:22*

 

 

I has been said that a picture is worth a thousand words.

Actually a picture is all you need.

What is it about being able to see what you are looking for a picture is an eye opener it really tells the story.

From the beginning of John to the end of his gospel he showing us a picture of the nature of God and who he is here on earth.

False teachings start with having the wrong picture of who God is.

John says “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God the word was God.

The same was in the beginning with God.

The picture that John is showing to us is that God is God in spirit and Jesus is God in the flash.

The picture is; that  Jesus is one hundred percent God and also one hundred percent man.

This is why he is God.

A beautiful picture, John 5:39 [i] \\ Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

The picture is that Christ does not want you to die but live for eternity.

Jesus has shown us signs which are pictures given to us by the holy spirit, Jesus did all types of miracles while here on earth but he gave us one picture of  his saving power and that is the cross.

Jesus disciples remembered and believed in the scriptures.

These are not just letters on paper; This is real and indicative of the reality of the word of God is fact and not fiction.

It is true that he is God and he will do what the word says he will.

The Scripture

Of uncertain affinity; TDNT 1:749; TDNTA 128; GK 1210; 51 occurrences; AV translates as “scripture” 51 times.

*1* a writing, thing written.

*2* the Scripture, used to denote either the book itself, or its contents.

*3* a certain portion or section of the Holy Scripture.

We as believers believe that scripture alone is the infallible word of God.

Its called Sola scriptura

Both Christ and the apostles viewed Scripture, and Scripture alone, as the unerring word of God.

Jesus held Scripture in the highest regard is evident from statements such as these: Jn 10:35 “The Scripture cannot be broken

 

Matthew 5:18 \\ 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Luke 16:17  And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.

Matthew 24:35  Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Matthew 5:19 \\ 19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

When he disputed with the Pharisees on their view of tradition, Jesus proclaimed, “Thus you mollify the word of God by your tradition…” Mk 7:13 Scripture there fore determines whether tradition is acceptable.

When Jesus was tested by the Sadducees concerning the resurrection, He retorted, “You are in error because you don’t know the Scriptures Matt 22:29.

When confronted with the devil’s temptations, He responded three times with the phrase, “It is written” Matt 4:4-10.

Clearly, Jesus accepted Scripture as the supreme authority and subjected Himself to it.

Lk 24:44.

And as followers of Christ, our view of Scripture cannot be inferior to His.

Scripture derives none of its authority from the church; its authority is inherent because it is the very Word of the living God:  2Tim 3:16 “All Scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correction and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work”

The bible teaches us that the Scripture is the authority and encourages believers to get into the word, but to begin to receive the blessing of getting the word.

Believing the Scripture

          The disciples believed the Scriptures

a.

The idea of believing God is a blessing…

b.     God cannot begin to bless you until you begin to believe

c.

There is power in the Scripture

d.     James 2:23 \\ 23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

The closes relationship begin by believing in one another..

Your salvation is based on you believing Rom 10:9-10

The picture here is you trusting God and following him..

3. Seeing the Scriptures

          a.

When we read scriptures we should see Jesus…

          b.

The word Logos is the word made flesh 

*3056 **λόγος* *1* of speech.

1a a word, uttered by a living voice, embodies a conception or idea.

Matthew 5:8 (KJV) \\ 8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

John 14:7 \\ 7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

Saints we must begin to  read the Scripture and believe God  that we may see him.

Even Begging Blind Bartimaeus saw Jesus Luke 18:35-43
