Religion Versus Relationship
Before we get started we must first define these two words.
·         Religion – external, that which consists of ceremonies
Man has been worshiping God with external ceremonies since the beginning of time with New Moon and Solemn Feast.
And he said, wherefore wilt thou go to him today?
It is neither new moon, nor Sabbath.
And she said, it shall be well.
2Kings 4:23
But it is not external cold ceremonies that God wants, rather the internal heart of man seeking him.
·         Relationship – the state of being related, connected.
God wants to be related to us.
The big question for us is do we want to be related and connected to him?
We want just enough of Jesus and God to get by in our daily lives.
To get beyond this hump and to seek him more and grow in our relationship we must look at our own relationship with God.
The relationship should be motivated by love because we have a relationship with Him, and we love Him.
We should want to serve Him.
Our motivation should come out of our love for Him, for He gave His life for you and me so that we may have life.
The goodness of God leadth thee to repentance.
Romans 2:4b
In today’s churches we have religion or a relationship.
It is sad to say, that most Christians today have religion.
They worship to make themselves feel good, not truly seeking God that they are there for themselves not for the Lord.
By participating in this we lose a lot of our blessings from God when we do what makes us feel good.
