How Abraham was given everything that God had promised and then God calls him to give the center of his heart that was in his hands.

Notes
Transcript
There was an atheist that was climbing the side of a mountain. He had his harness and his rope and he was going higher and higher the mountain. But all of a sudden he lost grip on one of the rocks and started to fall. As he was descending he was reaching all he could to stop his fall. When he finally was able to grab a hold of a small tree that was growing from the side of the rocky mountain. He tried all evening to grab another rock but he couldn’t and in his desperation he cried out, “God if you exist help me here.” Then he heard a voice telling him let go. Then the atheist cried out, “Is there anyone else out there?” At dawn when the next rock climber came to climb the mountain he found the atheist dead frozen only three inches from the ground.
Prayer:
God had called Abram from the land of Haran to the land of Canaan.
God promised to that from Abram there would be a great nation.
God promised that Abram would be blessed.
God promised that Abram’s name would be great.
God promised that Abram would be a blessing.
God promised that Abram would be protected because God would bless who Abram blessed and curse whomever curses Abram.
God promised that all the nations in the world would be blessed through Abram.
God promised to Abram that his descendent would be like the stars in the heavens.
Genesis 22:1 NKJV
1 Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.”
Lesson #1:
God does test us.
Lesson #2:
When God calls what should be our response?
Here I am
The reason Abraham was able to answer here I am was because he already knew the voice of the caller.
We must spend time with God and listen to the Spirits tender voice to know its voice. So when it calls we can answer here I am.
Genesis 22:2 NKJV
2 Then He said, “Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.”
Lesson #3:
God could call you to do things that seem a little strange.
Proverbs 3:5–6 NKJV
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
Genesis 22:3 NKJV
3 So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he split the wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him.
Lesson #4:
Your faith is to be shared.
Abraham took two young men with him and Isaac.
Someone needs to experience your faith.
Become a faith leader and mentor others on what you believe.
On the most difficult part of Abraham’s life he was not alone, he had others to support him.
Lesson #5:
Faith is a verb.
God is not wanting your noun faith.
God is interested in your verb faith.
Abraham acted upon God calling on his faith.
Abraham knew what he needed to exemplify his faith.
He needed a donkey to carry the materials for the sacrifice.
He needed the wood.
He needed the Isaac his son.
Genesis 22:4 NKJV
4 Then on the third day Abraham lifted his eyes and saw the place afar off.
Lesson #6:
Faith takes time.
God took Abraham on a three day journey.
PP 152 speaks that God allowed Abraham to have the opportunity to change his mind.
Genesis 22:5–6 NKJV
5 And Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey; the lad and I will go yonder and worship, and we will come back to you.” 6 So Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife, and the two of them went together.
Lesson #7
We will come back is the statement of faith.
Hebrews 11:1 NKJV
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Genesis 22:7–8 NKJV
7 But Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, “My father!” And he said, “Here I am, my son.” Then he said, “Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” 8 And Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.” So the two of them went together.
Lesson #8
When challenged with questions of life, that is when faith becomes more powerful and you have faith in your hands.
The provider of your faith is God himself.
Genesis 22:9–11 NKJV
9 Then they came to the place of which God had told him. And Abraham built an altar there and placed the wood in order; and he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, upon the wood. 10 And Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. 11 But the Angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” So he said, “Here I am.”
Lesson #9
Stay focus on your faith until you hear the voice of your shepherd again.
God called Abraham and he answered here I am.
Commissioned to the mission.
His son called Abraham and he answered here I am, son.
Didn’t dieter his mission.
God called Abraham’s name twice and he answered here I am.
Fulfilled his mission.
Genesis 22:12–14 NKJV
12 And He said, “Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.” 13 Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son. 14 And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided.”
Lesson #10
Faith is best demonstrated when we are faithful in not with holding what God has given into our hands.
Then God knows that we fear Him about all things.
What is in between you and God this morning that is preventing you from fearing God?
This is killing your faith.
Your work
Your knowledge
Your hurts
Your bad habits
Your spouse
Your child
Your reputation
What is it that needs to be brought to the alter so that we can accept the complete sacrifice of God in our life?
Today I encourage you to come and lay that interference that is killing your faith and lay it at the alter and accept Jesus and your founder of your faith.
Because we can receive the Goodness of God.
