Purpose: To walk circumspectly, being aware of the traps that seek to draw us from God's goal in our lives.

As we saw, The Lord culled down the numbers of the Army of Gideon. First in the attitude of the heart (trust, humility and obedience), and second in a test of readiness(Judges 7:1-8). Paul tells Timothy to 'be ready in season and out of season;' (2 Tim 4:1-4), the Greek implies being on top of the situation, or being watchful or observant

Why is this essential?
Something to think about
Read Mark 13:11 and Luke 12:11,12. These passages are often quoted for not studying the word. Why does Paul's admonition to preach, (2 Tim 4:1-4), and Paul's and Peter's urgings to study, (1Tim 4:13, 2Pet 1:10), not conflict with Christ's words? Explain why.
Read Eph 5
As we draw closer to the Lord, the enemy's schemes become more concentrated. It is essential that we seek a greater awareness for the Spiritual battles that rage around us (Eph 6:12).
Paul tells us to put aside childish things as we pass from infancy to maturity, (1 Cor 13:11), and to walk circumspectly, (Eph 5:15).
Let us seek to live our lives guarded to the things of the world, and yet with the total openness toward Him that He so cherished in David.(Acts 13:22)
