Sermon in a sentence: John shows us the way to Jesus while Jesus shows us the way to God.

John Makes Way to Jesus (vs. 2-8)

John knew that he was a prophet that was used point to Jesus! (vs. 2-6)
Exodus 23:20, Isaiah 40:3, Malachi 3:1
Exodus 23:20 ESV
20 “Behold, I send an angel before you to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place that I have prepared.
Isaiah 40:3 ESV
3 A voice cries: “In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
Malachi 3:1 ESV
1 “Behold, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. And the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant in whom you delight, behold, he is coming, says the Lord of hosts.
Like John the Baptist, we should learn humility in Christ! (vs. 7-8)

Jesus Makes a Way to God (vs. 9-15)

We see that Mark, John, and God the Father all testify of Jesus.
Jesus demonstrates he is the true Son of God where Israel failed. (vs. 9-13)
Jesus completes perfect obedience where we have all failed.
Jesus’ submission to the will of the Father is an example for us!
Satan will fight against God and his people. Are you prepared?
Jesus tells his audience that they must repent and believe.
