The Title of today’s message is Updating Your Status.
We need to have some understanding here that so many Christians don’t grab hold of .
If you are going to follow Jesus your life is going to have to change.
Again I want to reiterate that John is writing this letter to followers of Christ. This is not written to unbelievers. John is writing this as a course correction for believers who are being persuaded to swing off course.
So many people accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior however their Status Still Says Sinner, It’s Complicated............
If we are truly going to change our Status there are some truths that we are going to have to draw out of this passage to clean it all up.

12 I am writing to you who are God’s children because your sins have been forgiven through Jesus.
I am in a relationship with Jesus and it is through him my sins are forgive. I am a carrier of his name.
This again opposes this idea of sinlessness.
Why are Christians always called hypocrites because we walk around acting like we are sinless instead of announcing the forgiveness for our sinfullness and moving away from it.
