We are living in two kingdoms. One is earthly kingdom and another is kingdom of God.

As for Christians, our world is not of this earthly world but it is of God’s. However, we are hear on earth with our physical bodies.

Therefore, we do honor both kingdoms, earthly and heavenly kingdoms.

However, the preference is given to heavenly kingdom. Because, God is the creator of this earth and heaven.

Testing Jesus:

It is for our benefit Jesus was tested by the Pharisees and Herodias so that we would have answer forever.

They want to trap Jesus, if he says “No” they would handover him to Romans, because He was preaching against Roman authorities. If he says “Yes”, He would loose the peculiarity among Jewish people.

His answer was astonished them. He said, “Therefore, render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are Gods.”

This answer of Jesus, clear our all questions of the two worlds.

Cyrus the Anointed One:

According to today’s Old Testament reading(Isaiah 45:1-5), God of Israel elected the King Cyrus as His anointed one to redeem Jewish people from the exile of Babylon Empire, even the King Cyrus did not know Him.

He came from Persia, present Iran, to liberate Jewish people. Do you believe this?

He told the King Cyrus that He would go before him to give victory all the lands, and would give him all the hidden treasures and glory in all the lands. Even the King Cyrus did not know the true God.

So that the King Cyrus should know that, the Lord is God. Moreover, there is no other god beside Him.

See, the election of God did not depend upon on the prayers of the people of Israel that their redeemer would come from their own kith and kin.

God can do wonders whether you pray him or not. Whether you vote or not.

However, we should follow the rules of earthly kingdom beside heavenly kingdom.

“Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and to God the things that are God’s.”

The Things of God:

Let us think the things of God from our spiritual side. What God wants from us?

In Micah 6:8, the prophet says to the people of Israel, “O, Man, what is god; and what does the Lord require of you? But to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humble with your God.”

The things of God are coming from our good side, love, kindness, obedience to God’s word, patience and prayer.

And also we need to give him portion from our wealth for the extension of the kingdom of God in this earth.

Because He gave Himself for us. He brought us with the baptism through faith in Christ. Now we are not our own, but we are redeemed by the blood of Jesus who died on the Cross for our sins.

We should not test him by our worldly things but we must trust him in all situations that God who loves us will give us good things.

Dear friends in Christ, do not weary about our country’s financial situation and do not weary about our future leadership. God is going to take care of them.

But our responsibility it to depend on God and fulfill our responsibilities towards our earthly kingdom.

Remember our Lord is ruler of both kingdoms. He is in control. Trust Him and praise Him in all situations. Amen.
