These Four words are the most important doctrine in our Christian Faith
The WORD made FLESH
we are a faith, a people, a church with GOD
who loved us so much to clear the way of sin so that we could be born again to live a new life with HIM inside of US.
20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
but before we dive into our lesson today

Our study in the last weeks have been part of the Prologue of the Book of John
Vs. 1-18 give us the theological background of our LORD
Next week Cory will start the process of the narrative of this BOOK and then we will proceed to the Cross, Resurrection and the 40 days that our Lord spent on this earth prior to HIS ASCENSION to HEAVEN
to sit at the right hand of GOD.
our opening verse today: John 1:14
God became human;
God showed us his glory;
God offered us grace and truth;
God literally “tabernacled” among us

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
In the Beginning
Word was with God
the WORD WAS GOD
Jesus always WAS
HE was the Creator of all things
HE IS LIFE
not just our life ---- the LIFE OF ALL THINGS
In the opening of this letter John Confirms that Jesus is God
and in 14
he tells us the GOD that HE IS
John wants us to know the TRUE JESUS
Jesus is GOD
God came to dwell among us
and show us HIS GLORY
in his other books John says much the very same thing
Look at 1 John for a few moments
1 John 1:1–4 (ESV)
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life— 2 the life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was made manifest to us— 3 that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. 4 And we are writing these things so that our joy may be complete.
Maybe this is why John only identifies himself as
the disciple that Jesus loved.
JOHN WRITES FROM A PLACE OF FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD
Jesus didn’t come to observe from a throne,
but to FELLOWSHIP TO KNOW
so that we would be able to know HIM
John walked with him, talked with Him and called
i think John couldn’t COMPLETELY understand that GOD was with HIM
we are the same aren’t we.
True Spirit proclaims Jesus is GOD
when we accept Christ, and live IN CHRIST DAILY
we have the ability to DISCERN TRUTH
as TRUTH lives in us and we are HIS
He is TRUTH
not to stray to far from our study today
but look at 1 John — written later then this Gospel
22 Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son. 23 No one who denies the Son has the Father. Whoever confesses the Son has the Father also. 24 Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you too will abide in the Son and in the Father.
abiding in Him is the GOAL
John abided in Christ
Christ was his LORD, HIS Saviour, His LIGHT and HIS LIFE.
John lived and died for CHRIST
This lesson from John comes from
his glorious obsession with JESUS
Don’t tamper with the TRUTH
if you TAMPER you are under the influence of SATAN
the TRUTH is as it is written
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
the Word became Flesh and dwelt among us
God of ALL creation, All powerful, All knowing came to earth to walk with HIS creation
to experience our experience
to dwell among us.
This is BIBLICAL TRUTH.
We Have Seen HIS GLORY
We Have Seen HIS GLORY
john wants us to know that we MUST BE DISCERNING
We have the ability to KNOW THE RIGHT THING
not by rules or laws but by the SPIRIT
DISCERNING - a bigger word that means
we have to come to a place that we say
“HEY, that simply doesn’t make sense”
if the OT states that a sacrifice must be with out blemish
then we know that to atone for our sins we need a perfect sacrifice
and only God is perfect, Jesus died for our sins, so Jesus MUST BE GOD
if the Bible says it is --- IT IS
there are no contradictions in the Bible and if you think you found one RESEARCH IT.
Realize that as humans we don’t always see the same thing the same way.
DON’t miss the point, by following a non important point
its like seeing a storm on the horizon and arguing whether the sky is gray or black. the point is the storm!!
whether there was one angel or two angels at the tomb ___
the tomb was empty and CHRIST was RISEN!!!
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Jesus dwelt among us
We have all here experienced the Glory of Christ Jesus
we all know that the Scriptures are true
the Faith is hope in things unseen (Hebrew 11:1)
Jesus is REAL
Jesus is the LIGHT and the LIFE
in the beginning of verse 14 we have the INCARNATION OF CHRIST
that IMMANUEL — GOD with US
Then the fact that HE did indeed dwell with humankind on earth
That HIS glory --- HIS PERFECTION ---saved us
and that HE is GRACE and TRUTH

Grace and Truth
We live in the same world today that Jesus came into....
full of sinners
full of people needing salvation
full of people needing hope, help, and eternity
Jesus exhibited both and in always perfect measure
That is why a study of JESUS
our study of to DISCOVER JESUS in this Book of JOHN is so special
We are to live like JESUS, not our neighbor, not our friends, not our Pastor
we are to live like JESUS
we need to know HIM, so that we can LOVE HIM more
Jesus was Grace and TRUTH
in society today, and especially in our churches
we see the dichotomy
too much truth and we have legalism
too much grace we have relativism
too much truth will yield rebellion
too much grace leads to HYPERGRACE
we need to find that balance
Maybe its hard, but its possible
You can be the difference
Look at your life
are you FULL OF IT?
full of Grace and TRUTH
do you have people in it that are:
Saved and Growing
Saved and Idling
Unsaved and wanting
Unsaved and rebellious
we all should...
we need to have people more mature in our life to reach out to
people that are where we are so that we can relate
and people in our life that we can teach.
Christ was the Model
He had communion with God the Father
He walked with 12 men
He taught thousands
and has saved billions
We Have Received
We Have Received
verse 15 tells us that John the Baptist was the role that we are to model to others
verse 16 tells us THAT WE HAVE RECEIVED GRACE UPON GRACE
we are to be the FORERUNNER in the life of those that God puts in our view
that Jesus send us to be a Beacon of Light to the LIGHT
we are to be like John the Baptist
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
isn’t that exactly what John was doing prior to the end of Christ’s time on this earth??
16 For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.
Because of who Jesus IS and because we were offered the LIGHT and the LIFE --- someone offered us Jesus
and we accepted we were given
GRACE UPON GRACE because of our Faith
NOT because of our parents, our community, or our denomination
only because we spoke that CHRIST IS OUR LORD,
and that in our Hearts we accept
and know that CHRIST was RESURRECTED
the price that needed paid, we couldn’t pay, BUT HE PAID
was marked paid on our acceptance of HIM as our LORD and SAVIOR
17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
The world before Christ was the LAW given through Moses, and manipulated by the Pharisees
manipulated truth --- and little to no GRACE
Christ is resurrected and GRACE AND TRUTH enter the world
The Fall of Man is Paid for in the RISEN CHRIST
18 No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father’s side, he has made him known.
No one has seen God
nor have any of us ever seen the WIND
But we believe in GOD
because of the evidence, because there was and is a longing inside of US
to be HELD by Him
to know where we are going when we pass
to know that GOD is in control in our times of trouble
But God so loved the World that He sent HIS Son to die for our sin
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
God made Christ known so that we could have life
So do you want more JESUS?
Do you want to be FULL of IT?
Are you full of IT?
to know that the Word became Flesh and dwelt among us
that we have seen and experienced HIS GLORY
to live a life of balance of Grace and truth
To tell others about HIS GLORY, HIS WORKS, HIS INVITATION
We pour out our Grace upon OTHERS
that is grace upon grace
Friends we must love ALL others as HE loved and pursued us
We don’t need to see to believe we have the Spirit in us,
when we do the work put before us, we learn to know that HE is THERE
Lets commit to making HIM known today.
