Revelation 16

Good morning Wesley church. Havae I told you tooday that I love you! Well I do. I am so excited that you are here with us this morning. If you have your Bibles, turn with me to The Book of Revelation chapter 16.
Last week we were in chapter 15. There we discovered the saints that are saved durng the trivuoaton will be singing songs of praise to God. We also learned that seven angels will be sent to earth with seven bowls of God’s wrath.
As we turn to verse one in our lesson for day, we find a loud voice coming from the temple.
Then I heard a loud voice from the temple, saying to the seven angels, “Go and pour out on the earth the seven bowls of the wrath of God.”
Let’s continue to read the next verse.
So the first angel went and poured out his bowl on the earth; and it became a loathsome and malignant sore on the people who had the mark of the beast and who worshiped his image.
This plague is that of sores. But not just any kind of sores, but loathsome and malignant sores. And they only came on the people who have the mark of the beast and worshipped his image.
The only people attacked by these sores are the one who carry the mark of the beast and worship his image.
I have had people ask me, “Is it possible to receive the mark and not know it. If it was just the mark, yes, it might be. But is it impossible to worship an image and not know it?
What does the word worship mean?
So this word means to bow, bow down before, or to prostrate before.
One Greek dictionary says,
worship; fall down and worship, kneel, bow low, fall at another’s feet
So is possible to receive the mark and not know it, maybe. Is it possible to worship the beast image and not know it, certainly not.
So, the only people effected by this plague will be those who receive the mark, and worship the image of the beast.
Friends, God is not going to make a mistake. It someone is a faithful follower of God, they will not mistakenly worship the image of the beast.
The reason for sermons like this to insure that people know the truth and do not fall for the beast and his tricks.
We meet the second angel in verse 3
The second angel poured out his bowl into the sea, and it became blood like that of a dead man; and every living thing in the sea died.
Where the first angel poured out his bowl on the earth, this second angel poured out his on the sea. This time the water became blood. Again not like any blood, but that of a dead man.
You say gross! It is. But, not beyond belief. All the way back in 1946 people were discussing chemical warfare that was designed to poison water supplies. If a country released a chemical assault on the seas too destroy all sea life can you imagine how that would harm the economies of that the nations of the earth.
Which brings us to the third angel.
Then the third angel poured out his bowl into the rivers and the springs of waters; and they became blood.
If this were a chemical attack, its results is now spreading to the fresh water. This poison is spreading up stream from the salt water to the rivers and springs.
What is the one thing necessary for life on this planet? Water.
A person can go about three days without water, then our body breaks down.
Why would God take away the water supply?
Look down in verse 6
for they poured out the blood of saints and prophets, and You have given them blood to drink. They deserve it.”
Can any more be said. They deserve it. Why, because they poured out the blood of saints and prophets.
The fourth angel is found in verse 8
The fourth angel poured out his bowl upon the sun, and it was given to it to scorch men with fire.
This is real global warming.
They are two ways this could happen. First, the barrier between the sun and earth is removed. Or, second, humans become overly sensitivity to the rays of the sun.
The first, the barrier being removed, could be the result of a nuclear holocaust. An all out nuclear war.
The second, increased sensitivity could be the result of a virus released to kill the people and keep the land and building in tact. A weapon that nations have been working on for years.
Notion the results of this plague.
Men were scorched with fierce heat; and they blasphemed the name of God who has the power over these plagues, and they did not repent so as to give Him glory.
There are two results. First, they blasphemed the name of God. Second, they did not repent.
God has poured his wrath to push them toward repentance. They refuse to repent.
How stubborn to you have to be to have your health taken, you water taken, and the sun to scorch you, and you still don’t repent and turn your life toward God.
Then the fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom became darkened; and they gnawed their tongues because of pain,
This is direct attack on the beast and his kingdom.

And his kingdom was full of darkness. Confusion—disorder—distress, for darkness is often the emblem of calamity

And they gnawed their tongues for pain. This is a “most significant expression of the writhings of anguish.” The word here rendered gnawed does not occur elsewhere in the New Testament, nor is the expression elsewhere used in the Bible; but its meaning is plain—it indicates deep anguish
But again what is the result.
and they blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores; and they did not repent of their deeds.
First, They blasphemed and reviled the God of heaven.
And did they repent? No!
Did they turn from their sin? Did they change their ways? No!
They did not repent of their deeds, their works their actions. They continued on just as before.
The sixth angel poured out his bowl.
The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river, the Euphrates; and its water was dried up, so that the way would be prepared for the kings from the east.
The river is already dying up.
The way is being made for the battle of Armageddon, or the battle of Mount Slaughter, as it is translated.
The kings will come from the East. What is east of Israel?
Moslem countries and China. Have we heard saber rattling from China and moslem countries recently.
Iran still chants death to Israel. This war has been coming for sometime now.
The intell. community said Iran would have a nuclear warhead in two years. That was four years ago.
China is now forming a relationship with Russia.
Those who attack Israel will come from the North, the East and the South.
Russia is to the north, China is from the East as is Iran, and Egypt and Saudi Arabia are from the South.
Israel is surrounded by people who hate them.
Friends, this is going to happen. God is not wrong.
But where is the church? We have already been taken in the rapture between chapters 3 and 4. We are out of here.
The war is over for us. We are resting on heaven peaceful shore.
In verse 13 we see again the Unholy Trinity. For everything God has, Satan has a counterfeit. Here is the counterfeit trinity.
And I saw coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs;
