Elder Appointments December 10th, 2006

/I left you behind in Crete for this reason, so that you should put in order what remained to be done, and should appoint elders in every town, as I directed you./
Titus 1:5

Ask Mark Henthorne and Bryan Stieglitz to Stand before the Congregation

Ask the Congregation to Stand

Dear Family, have you by seeking the guidance of God’s gracious wisdom selected these two men to join the other elders of this family?
(*Response: We Have*) They now stand before you ready to serve your congregational needs, activities, and God given mission.
Do you wish for them to be set aside to help take charge of this flock as the elders did over the churches of the apostolic age? (*Response: We do)* Will you promise to honor, encourage, and obey them in all things consistent with the Word of God, and zealously aid them in the discharge of their duties and responsibilities?
(*Response: We will*)

Please be seated.
Bryan and Mark have you prayerfully considered the responsibilities and obligations, which the office of Bishop calls you to fulfill and carry out? *(Response: We have)* Do you, with a deep appreciation of these responsibilities and obligations, accept the office of Bishop and willingly join the other Bishops of this spiritual family?
*(Response: We do)* Will you promise that, always seeking God’s help, you will faithfully perform the duties of the office, studiously endeavoring to learn and to do the things that will make for spiritual growth, peace, and purity of this family over which you are called to help shepherd?
*(Response: We will)*

George will you come pray for God’s blessings upon our new Eldership?
Bryan and then Mark have a few words for us.
*How God’s Family Becomes Beneficial*

/15 Through him, then, let us continually offer a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the *fruit of lips* that confess his name.
16 Do not neglect *to do good and to share* what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. 17 *Obey your leaders and submit to them*, for they are *keeping watch over your souls* and will give an account.
Let them do this with joy and not with sighing—for that would be harmful to you./ *Hebrews 13:15-17*
