They mocked Him!

Matthew 27:39–44 NASB 2020
39 And those passing by were speaking abusively to Him, shaking their heads, 40 and saying, “You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross.” 41 In the same way the chief priests also, along with the scribes and elders, were mocking Him and saying, 42 “He saved others; He cannot save Himself! He is the King of Israel; let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe in Him. 43 he has trusted in God; let God rescue Him now, if he Takes pleasure in him; for He said, ‘I am the Son of God.’ ” 44 And the rebels who had been crucified with Him were also insulting Him in the same way.
He had claimed the ability to save others, he healed the lame, the deaf, the blind!
He cannot from their view even save himself.
The Pharisees thinking, “see we were right in our seeking his life! He is a false prophet!”
His mother and some of the disciples looking at the cross in what has to be disbelief, and a loss of hope!

His Final words

There are what is known as the 7 sayings of Jesus on the cross, seven short sentences he was able to utter:
Luke 23:34 NASB 2020
34 But Jesus was saying, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.” And they cast lots, dividing His garments among themselves.
Luke 23:43 NASB 2020
43 And He said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”
Matthew 27:46 NASB 2020
46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “eli, eli, lema sabaktanei?” that is, “my God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
Psalm 22:1 NASB 2020
1 My God, my God, why have You forsaken me? Far from my help are the words of my groaning.
John 19:28 NASB 2020
28 After this, Jesus, knowing that all things had already been accomplished, in order that the Scripture would be fulfilled, said, “I am thirsty.”
John 19:30 NASB 2020
30 Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.
Luke 23:46 NASB 2020
46 And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I entrust my spirit.” And having said this, He died.
Jesus completed the task of His life!
He was the true sacrifice, the one every sacrifice in the Old Testament looked forward to!
He was the perfect more acceptable sacrifice!
Why did He die?
He payed the price for our sins, for our transgressions!
Conclusion
