When Jesus said, "if you are going to follow me, you have to take up a cross," it was the same as saying, "Come and bring your electric chair with you. Take up the gas chamber and follow me." He did not have a beautiful gold cross in mind‑‑the cross on a church steeple or on the front of your Bible. Jesus had in mind a place of execution. ‑‑ Billy Graham in "The Offense of the Cross" Mark 11:1-10

You Are Needed(Vss. 1-6)

Of Course because God is God He Technically needs nothing However, He has chosen to use Each of us in ministry
Ephesians 2:10 NASB95
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
1 Peter 4:10–11 NASB95
As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
1 Kings 1:33 NASB95
The king said to them, “Take with you the servants of your lord, and have my son Solomon ride on my own mule, and bring him down to Gihon.

He has also chosen us to worship Him

Hebrews 13:15 NASB95
Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name.
Isaiah 31:1–3 NASB95
Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help And rely on horses, And trust in chariots because they are many And in horsemen because they are very strong, But they do not look to the Holy One of Israel, nor seek the Lord! Yet He also is wise and will bring disaster And does not retract His words, But will arise against the house of evildoers And against the help of the workers of iniquity. Now the Egyptians are men and not God, And their horses are flesh and not spirit; So the Lord will stretch out His hand, And he who helps will stumble And he who is helped will fall, And all of them will come to an end together.

You Are to Carry Jesus(Vs. 7)

The Colt Carried Jesus To Jerusalem and to a multitude of People We are to carry Jesus to the Multitudes
Zechariah 9:9 NASB95
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation, Humble, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
Matthew 28:18–20 NASB95
And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Mark 16:15 NASB95
And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.

You Are to Be Under His Control(Vs. 7)

The Colt was unbroken
but he was broken by Jesus
Jesus wants to break us and have full control of our lives
“in the ancient Biblical world, a leader rode on a horse if he was coming in war and a donkey to signify peace...His choice of a donkey instead of a horse was God’s way of saying that he came as a king who will serve and save the oppressed.”

Zechariah 9:10–11 NASB95
I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim And the horse from Jerusalem; And the bow of war will be cut off. And He will speak peace to the nations; And His dominion will be from sea to sea, And from the River to the ends of the earth. As for you also, because of the blood of My covenant with you, I have set your prisoners free from the waterless pit.
Romans 12:1–2 NASB95
Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
Galatians 2:20 NASB95
“I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

You Are to Be Forgotten as Christ is Worshiped(Vs 8-10)

The further the Lord Went, the more likely it is
that people forgot the colt
So, it should be with us as well
John the Baptist Said
John 3:30 NASB95
“He must increase, but I must decrease.
Matthew 5:16 NASB95
“Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
