ADVICE DAD NEVER GAVE YOU

Sometimes life is overwhelming. The fog rolls in and you are encompassed about on every side and the wind is knocked out of you. This is not the time to retreat under the blanket of despair. Rather, this is the time for you to take a walk…take a walk up the mountain path of God’s grace until you walk above the blanket of fog that feeds your despair.
Walking in the fog is scary. Disorientation happens rapidly…unless you remember. Remember where you came from, remember your surroundings, and remember your destiny.
Remember where you came from. When you can’t see but six feet in front of you, it’s easy to lose your orientation. Where did your journey begin? Where has God been in the past? What’s His track record for faithfulness? Has He ever not forgiven you? Has He ever lost you, forgotten you, or let you down? Fear dissipates when you reassure yourself of God’s faithfulness.
Remember your surroundings. When in the fog, you only have your current surroundings to guide you. Look beneath your feet and remember the things God has taken you through. Look to trusted friends to encourage you. Look to the Holy Spirit who has always been at your side.
Remember your destiny. When you walked into the fog, where were you headed? One step at a time – one by one we lay out the path to our destiny. What’s your next step? What change of thinking needs to blow away the fog of despair? What place of encouragement do you need to put back into your life that you have omitted? One after another and we finally reach our destiny.
Walking up the mountain path of God’s grace is remembering you have grace for this moment and the next. By the time you reach your final destiny, He will open your eyes to see He supplied you a whole mountain of His grace! Grace transforms…and it will transform this despair into the fresh wind of rejoicing!
