WORD STUDY ON “REST”

Too much confusion of the mind can result in a multitude of problems, ranging from fatigue, mental disorders, and burnout.
God has a design for creation that can prevent that if we follow it: it’s entering the Lord’s rest.
The problem is that today there are so many requests shoved our direction, and a myriad of pieces of information that we process, coupled with a schedule that would make Noah shake his head.
The result is that we don’t even consider taking the time to enter the Lord’s rest.
And if we don’t do that, worry is going to dominate that vital place in our mind and heart where resting in Him should be.
Worry pulls tomorrow’s clouds over today’s sunshine.
Here’s where we cut ourselves short if we don’t enter the Lord’s rest: we fail to hear from Him!
And if we do not hear from Him, then we are left to trying to hammer out the schedules and demands without His direction that could make all the difference between success or burnout.
The word /Sabbath/ means /rest./
It was instituted at creation.
When God finished His creation, He rested (Gen.
2:3).
He later instituted a day of rest for all our labors.

20:8-11* In the New Testament Jesus reminded the Pharisees that the Sabbath was made for man (Mk.
2:27-28) and that Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath (Matt.
12:8).

Have you found the way to enter the Lord’s rest?
Is your soul telling you it’s about time you did?
If you can’t hold it together, perhaps it’s time to withdraw and enter His rest.
I don’t think it’s just a matter of people not listening.
I think it has more to do with the sound of our own pain and worry being louder than the decibels of the demands coming to us.
The roaring of our own schedule, our own hurts, blocks out the words of comfort and truth – words we most definitely need to hear…words our soul is desperate to hear.
He who rebuked the storm wants to say to your soul, “Peace, be still!
Enter into My rest!”
