Men. Very good. We'll have to do that again soon. Sing some of them favorites. All right, if you take your bow in front of me to Psalm 16, Psalm 16. it is a Messianic Psalm of David.

Song number 16.

Begin reading, inverse number one.

The song that says preserve Me O God for in you. I put my trust. All my soul. You have said to the Lord you are my Lord. My goodness is nothing apart from you. That's for the Saints who are on the earth. They are excellent ones. In the whom is all my delight. Their sorrow shall be multiplied to hasten after another God, their drink offerings of blood. I will not offer nor take up their names on my lips. Oh, Lord. You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup. You maintain my lot. The lines have fallen to me in Pleasant places. Yes, I have good inheritance will bless the Lord who has given me counsel. My heart also instructs me in the night Seasons. I have set the lord always before me because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved there. For my heart is glad and my glory. Rejoices, My Flesh also will rest in Hope for you will not leave my soul and shield in the grave nor will you allow your Holy One to see corruption you will show me the path of life and your presence is fullness of joy at your right hand are Pleasures forevermore. Let's pray together are gracious and kind heavenly father will we are grateful or for this evening that we can come. And I just enjoy the songs and the fellowship and all the truth that is manifested in the songs that we sing that remind us, father of your mercies and your love. And Lord, we just pray your blessings upon those who are here and those who are not here, those who are sick, those who are traveling and out of town, finally, pray God, that you would be with them and I give them much rest in there. In the season following, we pray that you again bless this time of teaching. I pray Lord and be edifying to your body. We ask this in Jesus name. Amen. So Psalm 16 is a Psalm of David. Would she is really despaired of his enemies. I'm here in psalm 16. He looks to God for the deliverance and his preservation. We know, David and his wife. He knew a lot he knew much about persecution. He knew a lot about difficulty, but he also knew how to trust God. He also learn to trust the Lord and in this particular song, David was already looking toward and rejoicing in the coming of Christ. As I said earlier this is a Messianic Psalm declaring the coming of a savior. As a matter of fact, verses 8 through 10 a deal specifically with the resurrection of Christ vs Aid. Again, it says I have set the lord always before me because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved there for my heart is glad in my glory. Rejoices, My Flesh also will rest in Hope and those first 10 For you will not leave my soul in sheol in the grave nor will you allow your Holy One to see or undergo corruption? And we know that this is a reference to the resurrection of Jesus Christ because Peter Preach from this passage of scripture in Acts chapter 2 verses 25 through 31. He Reeves verbatim a mini. Those verses that I just read you verses 8 through 10 of the Apostle. Paul also quoted this song and regard to the resurrection of Christ and Acts chapter 13 verse 35. It says Paul says, and that he raised him from the dead. No more to return to corruption. He has spoken. Thus, I will give you the sure mercies of David. Therefore he also says and another song you will not allow your Holy One to see corruption for David. After he had served his own Generation by the will of God, fell asleep was buried with his fathers and saw corruption is flesh, saw corruption but he whom raised up but he whom God raised up, saw no corruption. So on the 3rd and glorious day, we know the Lord. Jesus Christ was raised from the dead. His body did not see corruption. Now, verse 11, most Bible scholars believe that this deals with the Ascension of Jesus Christ, the Ascension of Jesus Christ. And verse 11, it says for you will show me the path of life in your presence is fullness of joy. At your right. Hand are Pleasures forevermore. Now, in light of that though, those are Messianic references to the coming Messiah, there still is a practical application in these verses for our daily lives as well. Just as Christ walk this Earth and he lived in absolute harmony with God, the father, and we know that their Fellowship was never hindered by seeing their Fellowship was never hindered by Disobedience. And as followers of Christ, we are to imitate the life that Jesus lived. Now, we will never reach that place that we can live above sin, but the scriptures confirm that we can have joy in the journey. I just want to focus on this evening on that one verse verse 11, you will show me the path of life in your presence is fullness of joy at your right, hand are Pleasures forever more. The first thing I want you to notice with me this evening is the journey. The journey. What can we discover about this journey that we are all on those of us who are in Christ? Well, we first of all see that. The Lord sets us on a particular path. He sets us on a particular path, a specific path. The Bible tells us in verse 11 you will show me the path. The path, not a path. So we're not going to show us a path is not going to show us some path, but he shows unto his children, the path that he wants them to walk and we think about David's path. It was certainly not an easy path, was it? It was not easy at all, but it was his path to travel. I will remember that David was, but a boy attending his father's sheep when the Lord called him out. Out of all of his father's son, is called David and anointed David, Samuel anointed, David to be king of Israel. Even as a young boy, I David might have thought being anointed so young that his path to the throne of Israel was going to be very fast or be very quick. But we know it was not. But never the last David had a particular path. He had a definite path that he was to be on. And no doubt there were times when David grew very weary But he knew he was walking in the will of the Lord.

We think about the difficulties from the moment that he was anointed to the time that he actually took the throne in Israel. There were times I'm sure David thought I would. He would never be able to sit on the throne of Israel because of all the difficulties that he endured Prior to that. But listen, the same could be said of us today. Often our journey with the Lord, take some unexpected turns, but we can be rest assured. That God has the path for us. And our path will be at times very hard. Our paths many times for every one of us is hard and maybe for our neighbor are for our friends or relatives. Their path may be harder. We must persevere. Knowing that such, as Paul said, insect Corinthians 4:17. Paul said for our light Affliction, which is, but for a moment works for us far more exceeding and eternal weight of Glory. You notice how Paul says they're for our light affliction. Now, you know all the troubles and afflictions that the Apostle Paul went through, you know? It was not light, right? It was very very difficult and Paul said that times that he was nigh unto death at one time he literally died. I believe it went to the third heaven. But yet he Compares. He says here that for our light Affliction. That what does it mean by that? Well he's he's comparing his Affliction here on this Earth is comparing it to Eternity. And knowing that and seeing that. When he Compares his afflictions and live eternity, it is light. Light Affliction, he says. And then he also says this which is but for a moment Not most of Paul's adult life after he became a Christian after God saved him. Was. Difficult is home Ministry. You could say Was very hard, but yet the Apostle Paul. Again, comparing it comparing his Affliction in light of Eternity, said that his Affliction was just for a moment. And that it works for us. A far more exceeding and eternal weight of Glory. So knowing this we should be content to walk the path that he has chosen for us each and every person has a particular path. And we should never feel inferior. If we see a brother or a sister that we seemingly feel like that they're walking a path, it is easier than ours.

We should be content to walk the path and he has chosen for us for us. It is a particular path, it is a plane passed. It is a plane passed. My birthday. Verse 11. Again says you will show me the path. You will show me the path now. David did not were worried where the God will direct his path. He was not concerned with himself, wandering aimlessly and losing his way. He was confident that God would be there to guide him and to show him the way that he should travel, You know, we hear a lot about today about the will of God. Amanda today worry about finding the will of God for their lives and they wonder if they're going to make the right decision whenever they get to the crossroads of life. And as a child of God, they begin to contemplate and to begin to think about it many times over think this thing of the will of God. Then reality, that is a needless worry for the child of God again, that phrase you will show. has the idea of knowing perceiving or distinguishing. And I think again, A lot of times we make finding the will of God much harder than what it really is. Not a good resource for you. If you are all the time contemplating this thing is is this the will of God a good resource for you is a little booklet entitled found God's will. found God's Will by John MacArthur's is about 41 pages long but really the thesis of that book or the premise of that book is this Is the decision that you are wanting to make, is it good? Is it righteous? Is it? Holy would this decision that you make bring glory to God and if so then do it, do it now. He's not saying, don't seek counsel. And that is always wise to seek counsel when you have a big decision to make to ask the pastors to pray for you, but we should never constantly second-guess ourselves or run ourselves into a frenzy thinking, okay, Mount, am I making the right decision because ultimately the, the Lord will show us. He will show us. David said you will show me the path. So we should have full assurance that God will lead us and show us the path that he desires for us. It is not a maze, the will of God for your life is not like you are in a maze and you've got to hopefully find that right past. That is going to lead you to the end. That is not the way it is at all. It is a plain path that is shown To Us by our heavenly father.

Another thing that we see in this first point is that it is a prosperous pass. Is a prosperous past. David knew that God would show him the pass of what Will decide the path of Life. The path of life is speaks of that, which is living, that which is active, that which is Lively. It was used to speak of a garden that was Lush and green or a stream that was flowing. So David knew that God would lead him in the path of life.

The path of life is a path of blessing, right? Sadly, many today are on a path of death. They're on a path of Destruction. There's a way that seems right unto a man but the end thereof is the way of death. Their lives are heading for disaster.

But not for the Christian.

Christian, there is hope.

And the path of life. Miss life that we travel. Through down here is short it is but a vapor and we are liking them to pilgrims and strangers headed to that, glorious homeland of the Soul. We know that God's path is never a path of Destruction is never a path of defeat. His pads are always full of Abundant Life. They're full of blessing.

We see the journey. Nota. Secondly, we see the joy. The Joy verse 11 again, and he says in your presence is fullness of joy.

David here, focuses on the joy that is found only in the Lord. I notice what this reveals concerning Joy, it's houses. First of all that Joy is available. Hey man, Joe is available.

Is very evident here that David is speaking from experience.

He knew what it was to experience the joy of the Lord. This is not something that he had heard. This is not something that he just wondered about. It wasn't something that others possess but he never had. He speaking experientially. Hear David had joy in the Lord. So that confirms a simple truth to us that Joy is available to every child of God, and is available only through the Lord. As we are near unto him. In your presence, is fullness of joy. So there's absolutely no reason whatsoever for a child of God to live in this life without Joy. It is available in the Lord. And so, if you are not experiencing joy in your life, understand this, it is not the Lord's fault, okay? If you are not experiencing Joy is not because the Lord has moved is because you have moved and You've Lost That joy, unspeakable and full of Glory. He desires to order to direct our path and walk Us in it in such a way that we experience. Real Joy. I think about what's up, the Apostle, John wrote, In First, John 1:4. He said, I write unto you that your joy may be full that your joy may be complete. So This Joy is available. This Joy is abundance. notice this, he says, in your presence In God, there is fullness of joy. There is abundant Joy. There is satisfying Joy. There is it. Literally speaks of Saturated with joy. Your life will be saturated with joy. To David declared that he would, he was consumed and filled with the joy of God. You are so full of God's joy that the cares of life, and he had a lot. But he was so filled with the joy of God in his life at the cares of this life seem to fade away. And then God, there was peace and joy that the world could not take away.

Now, again, we have talked about this many times but many confuse, Joy with happiness, and there are some similarities, but there are also some great differences as well. Happiness, depends largely upon the outward circumstances, it depends upon the happenings in the happenings are good. And we are happy in their bad and we're sad, but joy is settled deep within and isn't dictated by the situations or circumstances of our life. It's like David weekend. Be in the midst of a battle, we can be in the midst of a trial and still experience the fullness of joy. The joy that only the Lord gives being near to him in thy presence. Is fullness of joy. We see the journey. We see the joy that didn't notice. lastly, the Jubilation again, verse 11 houses At your right hand. There are Pleasures forevermore so stay as David Ponder, his past and experience of but enjoying the Lord, his heart was undoubtedly filled with Jubilation that being near to God being near and unto him brought Pleasures to David. Notice this involves we see here, verse 11, a particular place.

David was well aware that the joy and peace in his life is found only at the at the Lord's right hand. At your right hand, there are Pleasures forevermore. Now what does that term right hand mean? Well the right hand is a term used metaphorically, scripture and shoes. Many times in scripture to speak of God strength. It speaks of God's power. Until when David said at your right hand, there are Pleasures, forevermore he was acknowledging that his life was absolutely eternally secure and the Glorious presence of his all-powerful God. When we are at God's right hand, that means that we are near unto him.

And in the closeness of his presence, we are honored and privileged to enjoy his pleasures.

Therefore, there's no need to search for peace or no need to search for contentment in this world. Because guess what? You're not going to find it. And the piece or the contentment that you do find doesn't last. You constantly have to keep seeking after something.

Real joy and satisfaction is only found at the Lord's right hand. And his all-powerful secure. And and again, there are countless people around the world searching for something in life to fill that void. That they carry deep within, but that void will never be filled apart from Christ. so, if you need peace, You run to Christ, you run to Jesus. He gives you a peace that passes all understanding.

Notice also a profound pleasure. Verse 11 says, at your right hand, there are Pleasures forevermore This wasn't something that David had to endure being in the presence of God. This was not something that David had to endure being near to the Lord's. Right-hand, this wasn't a burden for David. He found genuine pleasure in his life when he was near to God.

The idea of the word, pleasure means delightful or agreeable. And bloodless and there is nothing like the pleasure. That Jesus gives. Much of what the world offers is, sinful is sensual and temporal at best. But there is pleasure in the lore that remains regardless of the circumstances.

Notice also. Is a precious promise. Mercy 11. Houses at that at your right hand. There are Pleasures forevermore.

This wasn't something that David was allowed to enjoy just for a season in his life. you realize at the pleasures that God gives our Everlasting, they are forever more. God's love and presence in our lives. Is it wavering or unpredictable? We in this life right now have assurance that His blessings and his promises are sure.

And again, we can claim those promises right now as we are in Christ. And God wants us to enjoy this life as we walk with him. But we also have the insurance. that the pleasures of God extend beyond this life and even extend beyond the grave

but Paul said and 1st Corinthians chapter 2, he says, but as it is written, I Has Not Seen Nor Ear heard neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for them that love him. Pleasures that we will enjoy forever more. Jesus said in John 14,

Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God believe. Also in me and my father's house are many mansions. If it were not, so I would have told you I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again to receive you unto myself that where I am, there you may be also In revelation 22 verse 5 tells us and there shall be no more night. And then need no candle. Neither the light of the Sun for the Lord God gives them light and they shall reign forever and ever. So, after I right hand, there are Pleasures for season. No, at the right hand are Pleasures forever more in this life. Yes. But also in the life to come in in the Life to Come much grander Pleasures than what we could know in this life even now. So, the best certainly is yet to come Praise the Lord for that. All right, listen to take a few. prayer requests, and
