Good morning Church If you have your Bibles please go ahead and find Luke chapter 13 If i have not met you quite yet My name is Danny and I have the honor of being the NextGen Pastor here at Reliant. Its always such a fun time to speak on a Sunday morning. I will say I am even more excited to speak during our Teach us to Dream series We kicked it off with the amazing celebration on our new Land that is now completely ours! Then last week Torin had a chance to talk about how important it is we align ourselves with the Holy Spirit. He did speak about what happened down at the conference we had a chance to attend.
I do want to start this morning by telling you a story of a family from Dallas. This Family moved to Dallas with high hopes of coming to a city to raise kids in a safe neighborhood. The Dad worked hard every single day and a-lot of times on Saturday The Mom did whatever it took to help the Dad provide an amazing lifestyle for there 3 kids that included working nightshift for a-lot of years. let me tell you this family was the epitome of what it looked like to love unconditional no matter if you done well in school or sports you knew you could come home to a loving home that was going to be filled with fun. They never had a lot of money but they had some of the best vacations filled with fishing sand castles. They all played sports. They all had success with sports. However as the 3 kids got older they started to go in different directions The Youngest stayed in sports the sister played sports up until about high school then got out. The Older brother started to rebel. He found the wrong friend group started attending what he thought as harmless parties. He gradually began to drink then began to Smoke weed, He was living a very what he thought a lifestyle that brought him women and a false sense of worth . However that lifestyle quickly began to spiral out of control when he decided to up the anty and little bit and began to use harder drugs. Those quickly took over. The Family knew something was up. they just didn't know what it was.. Was this him being a teenager? or was it something more? As things began to boil The older brother found himself behind bars and quickly to a detox facility to get help. The older brother found himself clean for 2 years and sold out to what was next. During this time he gave his life to Jesus and was excited to see how God was going to to help him. The Older brother decided to come back home and he worked with his Dad as an expert in wiring fire trucks. Then the day came where his old friends began to realize he was home and wanted to see him. The older brother thought man I bet I can help them like I was helped. However he ended up right back in the pit of addiction using and being controlled. What he thought was going to be help for his friends ended up recreating old habits. He felt alone and helpless and did not want to let anyone down. So he decided to make the decision to take his own life.

Romans 10:13–15 ESV
13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

Luke 13:10–17 ESV
10 Now he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. 11 And behold, there was a woman who had had a disabling spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not fully straighten herself. 12 When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said to her, “Woman, you are freed from your disability.” 13 And he laid his hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and she glorified God. 14 But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the people, “There are six days in which work ought to be done. Come on those days and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day.” 15 Then the Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger and lead it away to water it? 16 And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?” 17 As he said these things, all his adversaries were put to shame, and all the people rejoiced at all the glorious things that were done by him.

34 “Salt is good, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? 35 It is of no use either for the soil or for the manure pile. It is thrown away. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”

Expect Confusion

Luke 13:22–30 ESV
22 He went on his way through towns and villages, teaching and journeying toward Jerusalem. 23 And someone said to him, “Lord, will those who are saved be few?” And he said to them, 24 “Strive to enter through the narrow door. For many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able. 25 When once the master of the house has risen and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, open to us,’ then he will answer you, ‘I do not know where you come from.’ 26 Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.’ 27 But he will say, ‘I tell you, I do not know where you come from. Depart from me, all you workers of evil!’ 28 In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God but you yourselves cast out. 29 And people will come from east and west, and from north and south, and recline at table in the kingdom of God. 30 And behold, some are last who will be first, and some are first who will be last.”

Expect to be Bold

Luke 13:31–32 ESV
31 At that very hour some Pharisees came and said to him, “Get away from here, for Herod wants to kill you.” 32 And he said to them, “Go and tell that fox, ‘Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I finish my course.
Brokenness will be a must
Luke 13:34–35 ESV
34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing! 35 Behold, your house is forsaken. And I tell you, you will not see me until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’ ”
