2 Timothy 3:1–5 KJV 1900
1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
ἀνήμερος = anēmeros

2 Peter 2:6–8 (KJV 1900)

Children that are not taught right will continue on a path to destruction
What is happening to our souls?
Seeing and hearing damages our souls!
“Flee youthful lusts”
In the 2010s, the amount of violence in top-grossing movies doubled compared to the 1980s.
Violence = according to a study by the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania, in the top-grossing movies from 2002 to 2018, there was an average of 22.5 violent acts per hour. The study also found that these violent acts were often portrayed as necessary for the hero to achieve their goal.
Another study by the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania found that in the top-grossing movies from 2002 to 2018, there were on average 3.1 scenes with sexual content per hour.
a study conducted by the Parents Television Council, an organization that advocates for responsible entertainment, the amount of sexual content in top-grossing movies has doubled since the 1990s.
Lisa Honold, Director, The Center for Online Safety, said, “Parents are being sabotaged by mature content promoted to their kids on social media. Even if kids aren't interested in mature content, social media algorithms target them and "test" what they'll watch, delivering more salacious content over time. We need national online safety standards to protect kids and stop family values from being sabotaged.”
Parents need to be aware that this is going on, and they must take a more active role in the media consumption habits of their children. But parents have a hard enough job trying to protect their children from toxic influences in the culture without the entertainment industry actively working to undermine them and do an end-run around parents by using social media platforms to market content to children that those children are too young, too immature, and too inexperienced to consume without risk of harm.
Much of what children see online, whether streaming shows, apps or games, is destroying their psyche. The very soul of childhood is compromised by corporate greed and children are dying!
a study published in the journal Pediatrics in 2013 analyzed the content of popular rap songs from 1998 to 2010 and found that more than 80% of the songs contained violent lyrics.
a study published in the journal Psychology of Popular Media Culture in 2018 found that in the late 1970s and early 1980s, only about 5% of rap songs contained sexual content. By the mid-1990s, that number had risen to around 30%, and by the mid-2000s, it had risen to over 50%.
“Despisers of those that are good”
The news
Isaiah 5:20 KJV 1900
20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; That put darkness for light, and light for darkness; That put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Good = virtuous and pure
When asked why they watched a show, given the dark themes and content, a 13-year-old responded, “Because it’s trending and no one wants to miss-out.”
We know that children are being harmed by social media and other digital entertainment platforms, and the consequences are proving to be tragic. A dramatic increase in childhood depression, suicide and self- harm appears exactly to mirror the childhood increase in social media screen time.
Suicide is now the second leading cause of death for children aged 10-14. It is important to remember that the National Institutes for Health concluded that 13 Reasons Why was associated with a 28.9% increase in suicide rates among U.S. youth ages 10-17 in the month (April 2017) following the show’s release, after accounting for ongoing trends in suicide rates.
Despisers = detests, repel, sneer at, scoffs at, hates, abhors
that which is virtuous and pure
belligerent to morality and purity
Psalm 35:12 KJV 1900
12 They rewarded me evil for good To the spoiling of my soul.
Psalm 38:20 KJV 1900
20 They also that render evil for good are mine adversaries; Because I follow the thing that good is.
Proverbs 30:11–12 KJV 1900
11 There is a generation that curseth their father, And doth not bless their mother. 12 There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, And yet is not washed from their filthiness.
Parents are so important - respect, love, revere,
Are you willing to stand for good even if it means ridicule?
Psalm 52:3 KJV 1900
3 Thou lovest evil more than good; And lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.
Proverbs 17:13 KJV 1900
13 Whoso rewardeth evil for good, Evil shall not depart from his house.
Our nation is rewarding evil for good
