A fit life with a prison mindset
Ephesians 4:1 (ESV)
4 I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord
What paul knew about prison
Paul prison journey
In Philippi, during second missionary journey, Paul casts out a demonic spirit from a slave girl. Her masters, however, who had been making a living from the woman's spiritual powers, become angry at the evangelist. They stir up the entire city against He is arrested, beaten and put in prison (Acts 16:16 - 18).
Jews from Asia, who hate Paul, see him at the temple in Jerusalem think he is bringing unconverted Gentiles into a part of the temple area where they were forbidden, he was not.. They loudly accuse him of wrongdoing and stir up a riot against him a mob drags him out and beats him and a Roman army shows up and saves his life (Acts 21:30 - 32).
For Paul's safety he is taken at night by 200 Roman soldiers to Caesarea. Then Governor Felix has a trial and finds him innocent but keeps him in prison for more than two years in the hopes someone will offer a bribe to free him (Acts 24:26 - 27). Paul is eventually sent to Rome by ship in order to have Caesar hear his case. He eventually arrives in the city and spends time under arrest, for about two years as he awaits his trial and is freed About 2 years later Paul is arrested again but this time ends up in a jail cell in Rome. He is incarcerated until he is beheaded by the Romans
All on one slide if possible
Ephesians 3:1 Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus
Ephesians 4:1 a prisoner for the Lord
Ephesians 6:20 for which I am an ambassador in chains
Philippians 1:13-14 my imprisonment is for Christ. 14 And most of the brothers, having become confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
Philemon 1:1 a prisoner for Christ Jesus
Philemon 1:9 yet for love's sake I prefer to appeal to you—I, Paul, an old man and now a prisoner also for Christ Jesus—
Philemon 1:23 Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus
Colossians 4:10 Aristarchus my fellow prisoner greets you
Colossians 4:18 I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand. Remember my chains
2 Timothy 1:8 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God,
Before paul ever knew the Lord
Acts 9:15-16  (ESV)
15 But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel. 16 For I will show him how much he must suffer for the sake of my name.”
So no matter what is going on in this life remember who you belong to.. Christ!

urge you to walk in a manner worthy
Urge.. I implore you I beg of you… a lot is riding on this..
Worthy… Equal to Christ
In order to understand this we have to go through Ephesians 1-3.. jesus is our head pastor.. we received mercy and grace since our sin deserved death and hell, that salvation saves us we get every spiritual blessing of Christ that the mystery is that we are the church and its strength in power is in Christ Love! Again equal heirs to Christ.. he balanced the scale in our favor..
Scale 1 scale 2
Calling
Our lifes work..
People die.. you boil down someones life work…
Romans 12:1-2 (ESV)
12 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Image bearers of God not of the world
Be transformed by the word of God
Live as a sacrifice for God
Love God and each other
Humility
Inward realization of self
Swagger
If we act in humility then we are not easily offended
Broken ankles…
We are not supposed to think greater of ourselves
Romans 12:3  (ESV)
3 For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned
Take an honest look at yourself..
Philippians 2:3 (ESV)
3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.
Jesus allowed this humility to take him to the Cross..
We learned last week
Philippians 2:6-8  (ESV)
6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Gentleness
Prautes= Meekness inward disposition towards God
Allowing God to become masters of our life
Matthew 11:29 (ESV)
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Allow God to do the steering. And allows us to be at our full potential.. .. this actually is the promise of rest..
Look at all the promises
The meek shall eat and be satisfied” (Psalm 22:26).
“The Lord lifts up the meek” (Psalm 147:6).
· “The Lord taketh pleasure in his people; he will beautify the meek with his salvation” (Psalm 149:4).
“The meek shall increase their joy in the Lord” (Isaiah 29:19).
“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth” (Matthew 5:5).
“Whosoever exalts himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted” (Matthew 23:12).
When you think about walking.. you think about God is literally breaking our old habits and giving us a new life and way to walk in and we trust that even when its uphill it is the right way
patience
Waiting without complaining..
This is toward those in your life
Long anger in essence the ability to suffer someone’s wrong doing for a long period of time
Make space for each other.. giving each other a little leeway.. room for growth..
Coaching kids who have never played before.. how can I hold them accountable to something I have never taught them..
James 5:9 (ESV)
9 Do not grumble against one another, brothers, so that you may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing at the door.
, bearing with one another in love
The word bears is also another word for forbearance.. which means you do not fold…
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (ESV)4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never ends.
When we walk in God’s love it is easier to love those who don’t love you.
You turn mourning to dancing,
You give beauty for ashes You turn shame into glory,
You're the only one who can
You turn graves into gardens,
You turn bones into armies You turn seas into highways,
You're the only one who can
