Paul Writes a church that is afraid they have missed the coming of the Lord. They are suffering heavy persecution (vs, 14). And here Paul gives them hope by showing them some of the things that are present evidences of their salvation. I would do the same for you today.

#1. You Believe!

A. They welcomed the word of God!
This is a intimate type of reception.
How have you welcomed the word of God?
B. They understood the message of the Gospel to be more than just some talk of a mere man.
How do you see the message of the Gospel?
you should see it as authoritative, true, and powerful!

#2. You’ve changed.

A. This is the biggest piece of evidence in your life!
They were effectively changed!
Now they lived for Jesus!
B. It didn’t just “work” but “WORKS”!!!
They were currently experiencing the changing, sanctifying power of the H.S.
If you are seeing current and continuing change in the way you think and act you can be sure the H.S is working in you the same way he worked in them!

#3. You will endure.

A. The way it began to work in them was that they were willing to suffer for Christ.
B. This is the test most will fail. The one that hits the hardest.
What will you give up to follow Jesus?
TV, hobbies, friends, family?
This evidence can possibly be the one that requires the most from you.
C. If you are saved this will happen by the work of the Holy Spirit!
Conclusion: Everything that is a true evidence of faith is a working of The Spirit in you.
