IV. BE DILIGENT - Hebrews 6:10-11

witness to the lost.

V. BE DEPENDABLE - I Peter 5:10

A. Some habitually fail in their duties to God and man. They are undependable and will be judged for

their unfaithfulness.

THE CHRISTIAN'S HOPE

TEXT: I Thessalonians 4:13:18

By: Carl Maynard

INTRODUCTION: The difference between the Christian and the non-Christian at death could be summed

up in one word and that one word is "Hope." In the Romans Catacombs hope is the most often used word.

There is no such word on the tombs of the heathen dead.

I. THIS HOPE SUSTAINED THE OLD TESTAMENT SAINTS AS THEY FACE DEATH

A. David, at the death of his son, said: "I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me."

B. Job had this hope: "And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh I see God"

– Job 19:26.

II. WHAT IS THE BASIS FOR THIS HOPE?

own resurrection.

B. The Christian's sorrow is submissive sorrow, which discerns the hand of God.

D. There would be great sorrow if there was only hope in this life. Paul in speaking of death said, "If in

this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable" - II Corinthians 15:12.

IV. WHAT IS THIS HOPE?

A. That we shall see our loved ones again. Death is not the end.

B. Hope of heaven and eternal life.

C. "Wherefore comfort one another with these words" " I Thess. 4:18.

1. "And there is hope in thine end, saith the Lord" " Jeremiah 31:17.

2. "to the full assurance of hope unto the end" - Hebrews 6:1.

hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ."
