God Delights in Doing Good for you (Part 1) Jeremiah 32:36-41 Jeremiah 32:38,39 And they shall be my people, and I will be their God. 39 I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear me forever, for their own good and the good of their children after them. Jeremiah 13:17 But if you will not listen, my soul will weep in secret for your pride; my eyes will weep bitterly and run down with tears, because the LORD's flock has been taken captive. Luke 19:41 And when he drew near and saw the city, he wept over it, 42 saying, "Would that you, even you, had known on this day the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. Jeremiah 16:1,2 The word of the LORD came to me: 2 "You shall not take a wife, nor shall you have sons or daughters in this place. Jeremiah 29:10-13 "For thus says the LORD: When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will visit you, and I will fulfill to you my promise and bring you back to this place. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. 13 You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. 1. God's Righteousness Demands Justice (vs 36, 37) Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. Psalm 119:144 Your testimonies are righteous forever; give me understanding that I may live. Romans 3:23,24 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, Ephesians 2:4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ-by grace you have been saved 2 Corinthians 5:21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2. God's Promise Requires His Provision (vs. 37) Jeremiah 32:37 Behold, I will gather them from all the countries to which I drove them in my anger and my wrath and in great indignation. I will bring them back to this place, and I will make them dwell in safety. Romans 5:6 For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." Jeremiah 32:37 ... I will bring them back to this place, and I will make them dwell in safety. 3. God's Possession is His People (vs 38) Luke 22:20 "This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood." 1 Peter 2:9, 10 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. 4. God's Initiative Creates an Undivided Heart (vs 39) Jeremiah 32:39 I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear me forever, for their own good and the good of their children after them. Job 1:8 And the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil?" Ephesians 1:11,12 In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, 12 so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. Mark 2:17 "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners." 1
