Welcome friends and family as we surround this family in the loss of their dear husband, father, brother and friend, to pay tribute to our deceased loved one who is now gone. To you Frank’s family we mourn your loss, we especially offer our deep and sincere sympathy. May we share with you the comfort afforded by God’s word for Such a time as this:
John 14:1–3 NASB 2020
1 “Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many rooms; if that were not so, I would have told you, because I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I am coming again and will take you to Myself, so that where I am, there you also will be.
John 11:25–26 (NASB 2020)
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; the one who believes in Me will live, even if he dies,
26 and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die.”
Would you pray with me please:
Almighty God, our heavenly Father, we come to this sanctuary of sorrow, realizing our utter dependence upon You. We know You love us and can turn even the shadow of death into the light of mourning. Help us now to wait before You with reverent and submissive hearts. You are our refuge and strength, O God, you are a very present help in time of trouble. May those who mourn today find comfort and healing in your sustaining grace. We humbly bring these petitions in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, AMEN.

Scripture Reading: 1 Peter 1:3-9
1 Peter 1:3–9 NASB 2020
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable, undefiled, and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, 7 so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which perishes though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 8 and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, 9 obtaining as the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
Eulogy:
Francis Joseph Cairns or Frank as many knew him was born June 2, 1962 in Long Island, New York. He passed from this life January 21, 2023.
He leaves behind his wife of 15 years Fah, two daughters Kathleen, and Ann, and his sister Mary Ann.
He was proceeded in death by his father Rodrick, and mother Kathleen.
Frank was born on Long Island and lived in New Jersey until he graduated from High School. His parents had moved to California first then urged Frank to move out to California with them, where he got a job at a bottling plant in Pomona California. Then Frank got a job in Victorville, California at the Dr. Pepper bottling plant.
In 2007 Frank met Fah on line, she was living in Thailand at the time. They spoke every day for a year, in which time they fell in love with, they met in person for the first time in 2008, Frank purposed and later they were married. Because of paper work and being pregnant Fah was not able to move from Thailand to California. During this time Kathleen was born and four months later Fah and Kathleen moved to California.
In 2009 Frank bought a home while he working in Victorville where they lived for several years. Then Frank got a job as a supervisor in San Diego California. During this time Ann was born. Frank and Fah bought a house in Temecula which was a difficult commute both in distance and traffic for Frank as he traveled everyday to San Diego.
In 2012 Frank got a job at the Refresco Bottling plant here in Walla Walla. So they sold their house in Temecula, packed everything and moved to Walla Walla. This was not an easy move for the family, leaving family and friends and going to a new place in a new state.
Family was always important to Frank. He took care of Fah and understood it was difficult for her to move to the united States, so he helped her care for her family who still lived Thailand. Fah relied on Frank’s strength during this transition. They had a good marriage and loved each other deeply.
Frank loved his two girls Kathleen and Ann. He laughed and joked with them often. He was a good father who expected their best and encouraged them in school.
Through all his years and moving Frank stayed in touch with friends even ones going all the way back to when he lived in New Jersey.
His was a life well lived.
Losing Frank leaves a whole and our hearts are broken. God wants to comfort us when we hurt. Psalm 147:3
Psalm 147:3 NASB 2020
3 He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.
When we suffer the pain of loss, God can bind our wounds and reassure us it will be all right.
How can we find God’s comfort?
In 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
2 Corinthians 1:3–4 NASB 2020
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
God is the God of all comfort. There is no real comfort apart from God. He is the source of real comfort.
God comforts us in all our trouble. God rushes to our side to help us through sorrow and pain.
Psalm 46:1
Psalm 46:1 NASB 2020
1 God is our refuge and strength, A very ready help in trouble.
God comforts us so we can comfort others 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
2 Corinthians 1:3–4 NASB 2020
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
It is comforting to know that God can use our experience to help others. God never wastes a hurt. God uses it to connect us with others.
This world is not cushioned, but in Christ we find the source of all comfort in all our troubles. He uses our pain to help others, and this is the greatest comfort of all.
Psalm 23 NASB 2020
A Psalm of David. 1 The Lord is my shepherd, I will not be in need. 2 He lets me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. 3 He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness For the sake of His name. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows. 6 Certainly goodness and faithfulness will follow me all the days of my life, And my dwelling will be in the house of the Lord forever.
Step away and sit down.
Song: Love of My Life - Queen
Closing Prayer: Pray with me please.
Our heavenly Father, God of all comfort, we look to You in this moment of sorrow and bereavement. Comfort these dear loved ones whose hearts are heavy and sad. Will You be with them, sustain, and guide them in the days to come. Grant, O Lord, that they may love and serve You and obtain the fullness of Your promises in the world to come.
Now may the God of peace—who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great Shepherd of the sheep, and ratified an eternal covenant with his blood—may he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.
The family invites all of you join them in the fellowship hall for a reception.
