Our Holy Calling 1-2

We are called by the Father! v.1
We are redeemed by the blood of Christ. 1 Peter 1:17-19 “And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile, knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.”
We are sealed by the Holy Spirit. 1 Peter 1:2 “according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood: May grace and peace be multiplied to you.”

Our Earnest Contention 3-19

Jude found it necessary to contend for the faith because there were some that were corrupting the Gospel. Corruption will lead to condemnation!
There is only one Gospel! Gal 1:8 “But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.” We must guard against both legalism and lawlessness.

The Conflict with Apostates 3-4

They have come in stealthily and excuse sin - Andy Stanley
They turn the grace of God into an excuse to sin. Romans 6:1-2 “What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?”

The Character of Apostates 5-13

The Old Testament parallels:
They are are not genuine believers.
They go beyond what God has allowed.
They are in danger of eternal fire.
They despise God’s authority.

The Conclusion of Apostates 14-19

They will be judged by the Lord Jesus Christ himself.
This was prophesied before.
