Gifts

1 Cor. 12:7 A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.

Telescope: we need help
Eph. 4:11-12 And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, 12for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ.
Acts 16:1-5 (NASB 2020)
1 Now Paul also came to Derbe and to Lystra. And a disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a Jewish woman who was a believer, but his father was a Greek,
2 and he was well spoken of by the brothers and sisters who were in Lystra and Iconium.
3 Paul wanted this man to leave with him; and he took him and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those parts, for they all knew that his father was a Greek.
4 Now while they were passing through the cities, they were delivering the ordinances for them to follow which had been determined by the apostles and elders in Jerusalem.
5 So the churches were being strengthened in the faith, and were increasing in number daily.

Equippers Hold Us Accountable for Gifts God has Given Us.

Paul’s advice:
1 Timothy 4:11–16 (NASB 2020)
1 Tim. 4:11 Prescribe and teach these things.
12 Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe.
13 Until I come, give your attention to the public reading, to exhortation, and teaching.
14 Do not neglect the spiritual gift within you, which was granted to you through words of prophecy with the laying on of hands by the council of elders.
15 Take pains with these things; be absorbed in them, so that your progress will be evident to all.
16 Pay close attention to yourself and to the teaching; persevere in these things, for as you do this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.

Equippers hold us to standard.

1. Every equipper needs a disciple, just as every disciple needs an equipper.

Pauls need Tims, vice versa. Jesus, Gamaliel

Acts 16:4 Now while they were passing through the cities, they were delivering the ordinances for them to follow which had been determined by the apostles and elders in Jerusalem.

5 So the churches were being strengthened in the faith, and were increasing in number daily.

Seeds planted/14-15 years later, Paul says of Timothy...
Philippians 2:19–23 19But I hope, in the Lord Jesus, to send Timothy to you shortly, so that I also may be encouraged when I learn of your condition.
20For I have no one else of kindred spirit who will genuinely be concerned for your welfare.
21For they all seek after their own interests, not those of Christ Jesus.
22But you know of his proven character, that he served with me in the furtherance of the gospel like a child serving his father.
23Therefore I hope to send him immediately, as soon as I see how things go with me.
I can’t, but Tim can.
