Mention “welcome service” for Carpenters

What we see is essential in a church service; word, prayer, and Scripture
Leads me to consider what is authentic worship
John 4:23–24 (KJV)
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

The “truth” part is plain enough —

The Person: We know the truth. John 14:6 “6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
The Message: We know the Gospel is the word of truth. Col 1:5 “5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;”
Soul Authority for Faith and Practice: We endeavor to handle aright, and this truth that anchors and saturates worship that is truly Christian. 2 Timothy 2:15 “15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

But what about “spirit”?

Is this our spirit?
Is this the Holy Spirit?
John 3:6 “6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”
True worship comes only from spirits made alive and sensitive by the quickening of the Spirit of God
True worship is not external, but internal — heart and head, emotion and thought, spirit and truth

So how can we help our church be truly engaged in worship when we meet, even if you are not involved in the music ministry

Teach the Bible
Help make sure those in our groups understand the concepts that are in our songs / we will find a way to communicate the songs in advance
Find new and old songs that express the truth we love and sing them
Do all we can to help our class be ready for the service
Let’s do all we can to make a few decisions as needed on a Sunday morning / Planning Center
