Who is blessed?
Ephesians 1:3 (KJV)
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
Not the entire of humanity:
Romans 4:7 (KJV)
Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
Those here that have never seen Jesus yet you believed and the Lord saved you:
John 20:29 (KJV)
Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
Here are the four WORDS that are part of our journey as believers.

I. Hunger. v.21a

Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled.
The hunger.
Starvation.
Psalm 63:1–2 (KJV)
1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
2 To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
Malnutrition.
Amos 8:11 (KJV)
Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:
The help.
God’s Spirit.
Psalm 107:9 (KJV)
For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.
Isaiah 44:3 (KJV)
For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:
God’s Scriptures.
2 Corinthians 12:9–10 (KJV)
9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

II. Hurt. v.21b

Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.
Psalm 30:5 (KJV)
For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
We are in tears now.
Because of loss.
Because of lies.
We will laugh later.
Joy in our worth.
Joy in our world.

III. Hate. v.22

Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake.
reproach” - express to (someone) one's disapproval of or disappointment in their actions
Why is there hate towards you?
It is because of your Saviour.
John 15:18–20 (KJV)
18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
It is because of your stand.
John 17:14 (KJV)
I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
2 Timothy 3:12 (KJV)
Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
Why do they call you evil?
The lost do not see their lost causes as evil.
The lost do not see their life choices as evil.

IV. Heaven. v.23

Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.
Rejoice” - refers to quality of the outcome.
Our rejoicing is over what is to come because of the persecution.
Acts 5:41 (KJV)
And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.
Colossians 1:24 (KJV)
Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the church:
Our reward is over Who will deliver us from so great a second death.

Conclusion:

Do you hunger?
Do you hurt?
Do people hate you now that you live for Jesus?
Are you headed to Heaven?
