Introduction

Slide 1 - Instruction Slide
For many, giving at church has some guilt associated with it. Yet, giving is not something we are told we “should” do, but something we “get to do.” When reflecting on what pleases God, the prophet Micah said...
Micah 6:7–8 (NIV)
Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of olive oil? Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
We don’t give to make God happy, we give as a part of acting justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with our God.

Instructions

If you would like to join us in worship through giving, instructions are in your pew, or at valleychapel.org/give.
We don’t pass a plate and many of us choose to give monthly, automatically online, or some other time during the week.
You can give whenever it is meaningful and helpful for you, even if that’s not during the worship service.

Prayer

Now, let’s join together in a prayer to offer our giving to God in a spirit of unity.
Slide 2
LEADER: God, you are the creator and sustainer of all things. ALL: All that exists belongs to you.
Slide 3
LEADER: These offerings we give to you, are not given to meet your needs, but to tie our hearts into yours. ALL: We remember that you entrusted these things to us in the first place.
Slide 4
LEADER: Use these gifts to draw us closer and create justice in this world. ALL: And help us to do what you require, to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with you.
