And he came down with them, and stood in the plain,
Not the same as the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7)
and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem,
The writer, Luke, was not like many pastors, who are obsessed with numbers so they can brag at the next preachers’ meeting. (John G. Butler)
Their mission was to learn to minister to two distinct groups:
“the company of His disciples” and
the “multitude of people.” (POSB KJV Lk)
and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;
Like this crowd, the Lord may allow the affliction of sickness into your life to change your priorities and purpose, to soften your heart, to shift your focus on what really matters, and direct your way to the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord is trying to get you into a position where you will seek Him. (Rod Matoon)
Two reasons they showed up:
To hear Him.
To be healed.

They were shackled by a power.
They were unshackled by a Potentate.
Christ will be seen in your
days,
disputes,
duties and
difficulties.

And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.
The touch of the Lord is evident.
He still has the same power today. He was the One who healed them then and He is the One who does it now. Healing is not in the hands of man, it is in the hands of God. It is not by the will of man, it is by the will of God! (Dean M. Weaver)
