(H) Have you ever missed a meal and not really noticed? Maybe...how about 10? Not really...Ever fasted for a week or more?
It’s hard not to notice when we aren’t eating because we need food for strength.
Story: Fasting at Blue Ridge...
Like NATURAL FOOD...WORD OF GOD = FOOD, SPIRIT
If you go the CHURCH weekly that’s GREAT, but that’s not enough of a DIET. You need to be FEEDING yourself DURING the WEEK!!
You can technically PROBABLY LIVE off EATING ONCE a week, but you’ll NEVER BE HEALTHY….even if you don’t cook, you’d be cooking!
-------------------------🐢 --------------------------
Robby Gallaty: Study- Scripture reading = high tide...raises boats. Start here.
-------------------------🐢 --------------------------
LOGOS SEMINAR...V.P. shared 4x a week, noticeable difference in many areas!!
Personal STORY: RUNNING 2x a week never got me anywhere...but turning it up to 3x was a GAMECHANGER.
-------------------------🐢 --------------------------
Paul told Timothy:
2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, (17) that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy is a SIGNIFICANT book because it is largely regarded as Paul’s FINAL LETTER he wrote...his last words to his SPIRITUAL SON and he EMPHASIZED that SCRIPTURE is necessary and sufficient for us...OT & NT!
GOD DIDN’T LEAVE US IN DARK…
You ever do a school assignment or project without a rubric? Frustrating!!!
-------------------------🐢 --------------------------
James 1:19-25 ESV Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; (20) for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. (21) Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
“If we are believers, then we have work to do: clearing out the weeds of wickedness from the ground of our lives and planting the life-giving seed of God’s truth” - The Bible Guide
PLANTING the SEED requires your own ENGAGEMENT with the TEXT!
I’m sure those of us who are part of this MICROWAVE GEN. HATE SEEDS...Our CULTURE has it so BAD they invented the INSTANT POT for people who can’t wait for a crock pot meal!
Think about it! But GOD’S WORD although it is described as LIVING, ACTIVE, POWERFUL still comes in the FORM of a SEED...(Matt. 13).
(22) But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. (23) For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. (24) For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. (25) But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.
You look in the MIRROR to find what needs ADJUSTMENT...shave, comb...for ladies makeup or hair…
The WORD OF GOD should CONVICT us and show us areas of IMPERFECTION where we can GROW. But it’s only EFFECTIVE if we LISTEN!
-------------------------🐢 --------------------------
So, make a time where you can consistently read your Bible every day and determine to make it a habit. If you fall off the wagon, that’s ok get back on. But put it into your day as an appointment with God that you have to keep. I’m a big advocate of reading in the morning, but some people like to read at the end of the day to unwind. Either way, what matters most is that you are engaging with Scripture and letting it convict you and transform you more into the image of Jesus Christ. Go and be a reader and doer of the Word this week.
